Change all TFs with one button?

Hi folks,

Is there such a function in MT4 ?

I hunt thro 20 pairs for trends from weekly > daily > 4 hour etc; and it takes forever to get thro it all, click click clicking all the time !!

Is there a script or something similar to do this ?

I have just finished 2 hrs hunting thro FF for this, hoping it exists.

there is a way to change symbols and timeframes, which can be done in a few ways but you no not give the needed information to answer you,

do you have all 20 symbols / charts open and want to change just the time? but on all charts? do you what to have 1 window open and change the symbols and or time frames on that one chart? Do you want to have them change with out user imput? That is on a timed base. Or both on a time base but have user imput to start or stop the timed rotation along with a user over ride?

You have to give greater detail, as I can not see what you want, most good coders will not write something only to re write it later because you did not explain well what your really wanted in the first place. Give it all even if you may want someting else to be added its easier to do it the first time then to keep adding new function later.

I have read most of the requests in the Platform Tech section during the last few weeks and it is sad to say that about 90 % of all requests
are posted in such an unclear manner, leaving room for 5 to 15 interpretations and very often when a nice member devotes time
to code or to give advice, the person who requests
just gives another detail but not the whole picture again.

Sometimes it might be a matter of problems with the english language, but most of the times I rather think it is a personality problem of those who request things.

Make a profile for each TF.
Then you only need to click on the profile .... and whooops, there you have all
of your 20 pairs , all on the same timeframe.

The above quote describes my way of "hunting" for a trade. I am looking for trend in weekly and then in the lower TF's. I do this for all of the 20 pairs I watch and keep on my screen. When I have all 20 pairs in the weekly TF, I will scan for the setup defining the trend in each pair, BEFORE I switch each pair to Daily TF, clicking each pair to Daily TF ( this is the first 20 clicks ).

I then scan all 20 pairs again for the desired setup in Daily TF, BEFORE I switch each pair to 4 hour TF ( the second set of 20 clicks ).

I then scan all 20 pairs again for the desired setup in 4 hour TF, BEFORE I switch each pair to 1 hour TF ( the third set of 20 clicks ).

The above work has taken 60 clicks, and it is these clicks that I refer to in my original post.

Is it possible to switch all 20 pairs ( all of which are in the same TF ) to another TF with one click ? If so, then instead of 60 clicks, I would only need 3 clicks.

NB. My "clicks" refer to mouse button clicks. I scan all 20 pairs each day in each of the above mentioned TF's. All 20 pairs are on my screen all the time with the same indicators. All colours and other chart setups are the same in in all pairs used. The only thing I wish to change is the TF ( of all pairs with one "click", if possible ).

I think I have covered all bases CC, if not then by all means tell me what else I can provide.

The first post at this link. A script that will change time frame on all open charts.

make a copy for each time frame & place in favorites. Then just drag the script to any open chart and click OK. It changes all open charts to whatever time frame is entered in the script.
ie: I have , never mind I'll just attach a few, you can make copies for other timeframes and save them if you need. Just change the timeframe and rename the script and save , pretty easy.
Should make your daily life a little easier

This script was originally written by zznbrm who does great work here and elsewhere. Hanover also provided some technical assistance as well. They are both a couple of very talented members here. I'm am sure this is what you are looking for..

Make the change on the following line in the script:

extern int eintTF = PERIOD_W1;

if you look below that line you will see the proper time inputs to use. M5 , M30, ect.

Here is something else you may find helpful. I use it quiet a bit and this was also originally written by zznbrm.

These scripts will change all open charts template. Just drag to an open chart and click OK . changes all open charts.

It works off of the template dropdown menu in Metatrader.

the scripts are named :
TP 0
TP 1
TP 2 and on.

They will load a new template from the dropdown template menu.
TP 0 will load the first template in the list.
TP 1 will load the second template in the list
and on like that.
By editing this line in the script code you can make as many copies as you like, just change the number and save and rename the script.

extern int templateIndex = 0;

You would then need to rename your templates in mt4 so they appear in the order you like in the template dropdown menu.

I have 2 main templates I use and name them so they are the 1st and 2nd templates in the list. But you could do as many as you like..

I have installed your TF change scripts and they work a treat !!

Drag>click and 20 pairs change to selected TF, hooray !!!

Exactly what I was hoping was out there in "program land". This is going to save me a considerable amount of "on screen" time.

That script of zznbrm, is very good, it was one thing I had in mind. How ever it can be made to run much faster and with out any draging it (or a list of them) to a chart. You can accomplish everthing with just one click that will change all charts. Actually you dont even need to click just mouse over an object to change the TF on all charts.

Here again I am making an assumtion that all 20 symbol charts are all open at the same time on your screen (small charts on one screen). And that you are not changing the charts by clicking on the chart tabs.

All this can also be done on only one window, which will save computer resouces, that the 20 charts with indicators will use. and you would have an option to look at your charts by either time or symbol wise, That is you can look at one symbol and moving down the time frames, or holding the time frame and moving through the symbols. With this type of set up you can view your symbols on a much larger screen. or have your trading screen open at the same time, while your 'Hunting the Market'.

Thanks for your last post. I wont pretend to understand most of what you said, I am not a programmers bootlace and couldn't begin to see how to program anything like what you describe.

I think I am best to stay with the zznbrm script, as I can do simple editing on some programs ( and I emphasise "simple" !! lol ) such as the creating a script for each TF as described by tommyd .

I am so pleased with the outcome of my request, I thank all reponses again and again .....
