Is Free Charting Package the Real Deal? Software Reviews here

We know we had issues with many MT4 based broker. There are many charting packages that we can get from our brokers and data providers, over here, i would like to discuss which package would best and who are the reliable data providers.

Software:
- TradeStation
- Future Source
- MultiCharts (TSSupport)
- Dynamic Trader
- Ninja Trader
- MT4
- Dealbook 360
- IntelliCharts

Im thinking that futuresource(love their MACDs) and tradestation are proly the benchmark, i believe their data providers are coming from Gain Cap? Looks like the biggies are all using Gain? Multicharts could proly come as a cheap option and guess what, their data is also coming from Gain...didn't Gain just got charged by NFA?

If im missing good chart and datya providers, please add and palce your reviews. Thanks!
Well I`ve Been Using Metatraders Since I First Started Trading Back In Early 2k. I Always Say Is Not The Chart You Use, Is The Trading System You Design And Apply Your Studies To.

I agree with that.

I saw some workshops and if see you the charts that they get.... Man it's far worst than MT4 believe me. But they get use to it, and we all know that when you start to making serious money you wont give up from them.

But its always better to see the better data feeds.

Many new traders seek to much information from the outside world. This is not something bad to do...but they become to dependable on other traders information... the way i see it is....create your own system usually emas...are great and very very very reliable...after you create your system marry it....if something is not working right fix it ...spend time with it....and before you know it you would have created a great system...

it must be a single time frame...which must match your trading style...

Thanks for the input guys. While some may disagree with your belief of a single timeframe system, you know there are plenty of mtf traders, the points you raised are valid.

back to data providers and chartings, could anyone give inputs on their experience with vendors other than mt4 and vt trader, esp data, i find that many mt4 brokers manipulate data?

I'm using gft (dealbook 360) on my live account. data feed is decent, the spikes I get on my mt4 platforms almost never show up on 360. I do kind of find it hard to go back to my demos though, because 360 is so clean and organized. I was almost turned off on them because the demo often froze around news, but with the live it works flawlessly.

I am looking into a paid one though "ensign" mostly for the playback feature. After reading that article on FF I could see the benefit of having playback. Also has some other pretty sweet features, time of day currencies make their biggest moves, how much etc. I want to read up on as much as I can before I demo it though, it looks kind of over whelming.

shadeslay, i concur with you. I think gft made a good decision going forward with the dealbook. The chart interface is almost seamless, i really like the smooth feel they gave, data is good, wondered which banks they dealt with? As a Broker, i think GFT is very professional, definitely reccomended.
You left out Esignal. They use the GTIS feed which comes from 200 banks. It's as reliable as anything else, and more so than most.

Hi Dopey,

thanks for the input. I heard of GTIS before from somewhere but my little mind just cant make out the details...can you elaborate more?
You left out :

- AmiBroker (cheap and very comprehensive. Fantastic value in my opinion)
- TopGun (has some nifty unique features/indicators)
- Esignal (probably the industry's reference)
- MetaStock (dinosaur)
- QuoteTracker (free and you could link it to many non-chart brokers such as MBT)

All that said, I still find MT4 the most intuitive and user-friendly.
You also forgot VT Trader which is one of the best free charting software out there. Easy to use, tons of indicators, great features. Worth to have a look.

Hi i think i did mention but only in my second posting hehe, but i think vt trader has data issue.

im thinking amibroker since i have the eod version i'll just have to upgrade it for $80 signing up for e-signal data package? What do you think of the package?

Or Multi charts basic? Anyone has feedback for multicharts?

Hello!

I'm currently looking for a broker I could open my account with. I very much like EFX Group, which is ECN type of broker, but they don't provide any charting software yet. I've also reviewed the GFT and I feel they could be an attractive option for me, but I'm not sure, if they use "dealing desk" or are they ECN?

jest1081, did you ever experience "stop hunting", huge spikes, or anything similar with them?
Good day, for me I kind of switch between VT trader and Metatrader. They both have their pros and cons but they are free. I know the GFT package and of course esignal are pro end packages.

Also I might add the Genesis package is another pro end platform as well.

I tend to get locked out of my Vt trader package during reports release time.
Does anyone have any trouble with metatrader during report releases?

Success To Your Trading
I love e-signal but I would not recommend it to newbies. Get your feet wet become successful and then move up. Then the charting cost won't matter so much and you'll be doing well to get a great feed and charts like e-signal provides.

This all depends on the time frame you are trading. (Or time frames.)

If you trade larger time frames, and don't use much in the way of indicators: The package matters not.
