in forex we can earn only in events time??

dear friends,

i am new in forex i just wanted to know that here in forex we can earn only at event time or is there any other way to tape???please let me know i am confused that how can i earn because when no event around so how can i earn here please advice and help me out and please tell me few basics strategies
