Dislikedi cant see how this is a morality question. if you go to vegas you are not exactly bright, if you play the lottery you just like to lose money, if you don't trade so you have profits you are just making a long career out of shorting your money, but I don't know how "right and wrong" comes into play.
there could be a morality question from the dealers side of the table. is it moral for the state to hold a lottery knowing they will be taking money that some people need for food? is it alright for a casino to con you into trying to buy something that gives less back? is it ok for a forex dealer to tell you that 5000$ is plenty enough to do 3 full lots a trade?
if you went to a store to buy a hat and the salesperson there tried to sell you a hat at 200% the normal price and you bought it, you did nothing immoral, you are just using your money unwisely. the salesperson on the other hand might have commited an immoral act .
course i might be off track here because i dont think gambling is immoral, i think casinos, lotteries and most brokers are. but if you believe that gambling is wrong and that forex is gambling then the answer is obvious. dont go down the path of using ethics to bypass right and wrong.Ignored
Is it moral to run a movie theater knowing that some people will blow money on movies they should be spending on food?
I don't believe we have a moral obligation to run someone else's life for them.
I've been in a lot of casinos and I've never been conned into playing. The only way I can imagine a casino con would be if they lied about the payoff on a particular bet.
For instance if the casino told someone that a winning color bet on a roulette wheel payed 4 to 1 when it really only paid 2 to 1.
I've never seen that happen.
