Hi all,

Thanks for your answers to my other post.

I also would like to put this question out there for the vets....

I was wondering, how long did it take you to be profitable? I know sucess can be defined a lot of different ways, so I will ask this question with a second part...

If you are sucessful, how long was it before you saw the hard work really paying off, and then how long was it before you started to LIVE off Forex? (If you are presently doing this.)

Think of it more as a survey, and any answers will be great.

Hope you all had a good paying week. Mine was mixed.

Uncoventional results require unconventional means. Consistent profit is an unconventional result. Thus learning to think unconventionally theoretically is the way to go. To find this way a person have to think differently than the majority of traders which is not so easy cause humans live in herds. From the very childhood most people try to develop the skills that would allow them to blend into society by being like everyone else around. Those otherwise usefull social skills become a burden when it comes to trading. The ability to think independently and without seeking for an approval from others is a rare gift.

I would say that I trade successfully now, after a three year learning through pain process. But, how I define successful trading can be quite different from your definition. Walking away with 100 pips net for the week is more than lucrative enough for my liking.

However, I wouldn't say that I reached over the wall of success in trading until about three months ago. Even then, it took about another month for it to freight train me with the realisation that I was finally kicking ass and taking names.

Just remember this, it is most definitely a learning process that never ends. Will you become what you consider a success in trading? Only if you keep after it. It's not some sort of timer that goes off to let you know, it just begins to happen like a trained habit.
Never underestimate the powers of the Force.

good insight, that is about what i would expect (hope) to happen. so after all this do you feel that your monthly forex activity is stable enough to be considered a viable source of steady income?

i have wondered this question myself as well, just a few realistic success stories would be very encouraging...

hardwork (learning + thinking) + LUCK.

the more thinking you put, the less luck you need.

Jedi:

What took you over the barrier from losing to success
three months ago?

Look forward to your answer.

Thanks

1. It took about one year to become profitable

2. I have been profitable (meaning, I have more than I started with in my account) for 3 months straight. Account is up by 98%.

3. I am not making a living off 4X - Yet.

4. My system was created from using a couple of basic indicators - (MA channels , 3 type of Stochs and and an RSI)

5. FF has played a big role in learning how to trade

6. The most valuable thing I have learned - always use MTF to trade
