I've been beat up pretty bad over the last couple of months because of my over-confidence and greed. I'm definitely at an all time low in my continuous quest to make it in the business. This has been a really tough journey and experience. I thought I had this thing figured out so many times with complete confidence, only to be let down and disappointed every single time. This is truly one of the most exhausting and mentally challenging experiences I've had.
I have taken a step back and given myself some time to clear my head and re-evaluate my approach both technically and mentally. I have reviewed my own historical charts and found it to be priceless, revealing much more to me now than at the time I recorded it. I am getting very close to figuring out what works for me and what doesn't in regards to trading style and how much time I want to devote to it.
This journal will start off a bit in the opposite direction of most threads in that my intent is to develop and build my "system" as I trade. I will be placing trades as I see them based on the knowledge I've acquired to this point, rules and guidelines will be build slowly as I progress.
Update: August 5, 2011
My trading has greatly improved since the start of this journal. My emotions are somewhat under control, I am risking a comfortable amount, and I have a healthy long-term confidence.
In regards to putting together a system, I really seem to be going the opposite direction of a traditional "system". Not sure how to explain it, but it's working. I do have parameters to trade within, but they are fairly loose.
Recording trades, charts, and weekly thoughts have all been extremely helpful. I look forward to further progression and enjoyment of this entire process!
