Do market makers eat lunch?

hi forexers
just a quick question. i threw this in the newbie section. its not specifically related to forex but more to stock, options and futures markets.

Do market makers eat lunch? is there a pause at some point during the day so these guys can take a break? if anyone knows the answer please post it.

Relating to the stock market, actually, there is a slow period during lunch time frame where brokers, buyers and sellers, etc, take a break. The only times I have not seen the break were during major news events and large movements in the markets.
I thought I had noticed some Eur/Usd moves just prior to noon EST and then an hour later. Maybe 15 to 30 pips. Eur/Usd in my observation moves in multiples of 30 pip pulses. I say 'thought' because in the past couple of weeks this does not seem to be the case.

Hey Lou... he was refering to the US Stock Market.
Yes, their preferred dishes are weak hands, sloppy stops, and scared money.

Seriously, a lot of them won't leave their desks or the building. You're talking about a highly dedicated group of people who make big bucks for missing lunch breaks.

Actually twice a day during coffee breaks.

Realistically though, I don't see as much influence in FX as I did in Futures. When trading Fut's full time, I often took the upcoming 12:00 noon EST {read 11:30 - 1:30} into consideration while contemplating an Exit or even an Entry.

Another good idea!!!
You can watch them on this web cam as they go to lunch. I have been reading there lips and have got a new edge. I'll start a thread on the "lips" method soon.

yes mate they do, I have a mate at IG Markets and I can assure you they have a lunch break! they take turns mate, so someone is always there to hunt your stop!
