Order Comment blank after order closed

Seem to have a problem with MT4 at the moment. The last 3 trades that have closed have moved to the account history tab where the order's comment becomes blank.

It has been fine for months previously and in the Trade tab the comment is fine, too.

I'm aware of the issues surrounding Order Comments being too long or truncated so all mine are approximately <20 characters.

Anybody else seen this?

Cheers

It seems the broker has some options of how to modify the comments to his own liking and some seem to do this and don't care about the trader's needs. I have also heard about brokers omitting the [tp] and [sl] for example or doing other funny things with the comments. The more such stories I read the more I am convinced that the comment field cannot be reliably used for anything at all and if it works with your broker it is pure luck and could stop working the very next day. Your EA (or your statistical analysis of your trade history) can not rely on them.

Ah yes good thinking. All 3 or these orders went out on the stop so perhaps it is the broker modifying it a bit too much.

I'll hold off on naming the broker at the moment just incase they have an issue. It doesn't necessarily mean they have been negligent. I am testing some code on one of their demo accounts and it's fine!

I agree that you shouldn't use the order comment. I can always track mine back from the magic number and log trades in a spreadsheet for further analysis.

I Agree!! - I used the store info in the comments until this happened to me. Also some broker place limits on use of TP/SL too (I used to add 1000pips+myinfo in my SL) so you cant store info in them. They're really closing the wagons on many programming tricks - since most EA users cant modify the code they can throw off hundreds of traders with these sly moves (and a lot of them wont notice it)
