DislikedRe the recovery function... I have been amending the NB bot (and now TB) to kick in recovery at almost double the number of pips - ranging from 300 to 450 pips depending on volatility. This is my attempt to combat the big runs like we have just experienced with EURUSD. This means some trades will take longer to get out of recovery, but it also should limit most of the big losses (in my opinion). I just wonder if you or anyone else has considered tinkering with these also?Ignored
DislikedThe strange thing of course is that the optimum number of bars for all the other pairs is in the 150-2xx range. This pair is only 20. That might be right, but it might also simply be a typo. And even if it is the result he got, it seems to me that the sixth lines would shift radically compared with the other pairs. It might be the right number, but there is decent enough reason to call it into question.Ignored
DislikedI trade audnzd, if you ever looked at the actual range of movement for this pair typically, the low setting of 20 doesn't suprise me at allIgnored
DislikedTo follow up on my previous post I have been doing some backtesting from 2007 and having the higher recovery pips of at least 300 pips is showing better results... for what it's worth.Ignored
QuoteDislikedI do wonder if we would get even better results for this strategy with a hard stop or a stop based on ATR???? Steve, is it worth coding to check in backtesting, or have you already been there?
Dislikedsteve,
It's just what I have done in my bot
Renentry line is dynamically calculated
that's work very well
Teel me if you want i isolate the code for youIgnored
In 2 & 3, leaving the default pips input at zero tells TB to do the calculation.
This version is for backtesters to play with over the weekend. If you are not a backtester, I suggest you leave re-downloading until closer to market opening in case people have other ideas that I can add.
DislikedCheers Max. I have already done it, but thanks anyway.
The latest update is in post 1:
- you can turn Recovery on and off
- Re-entry line calculated dynamically
- there is a stop loss option instead

DislikedHi Steve,
You have exercised a lot of patience with me for a good while...And now with that said.......
IMHO you should offer a #4 profit option to The Beast.....First of all I'm not a fan of a SL, even a pair dynamic one.
If you are going to offer a hard SL why not have #4 be a pair dynamic (70% D1 ATR) hedge to a TP or a hand-off to a 70% D1 ATR hedgethehedge to a TP or Breakeven if first hedge retraces......MPTM's hedges have coexisted very well with the Recovery System when used together......Food for thought....
Have a great day

DislikedHi Steve,
ATM we set up the bot with a fixed number for Primary & Secondary trade sizes.
We could automate this with something like Primary_trade_Lot_size=Equity/100000; or whatever.
If I remember rightly Scooby had some good numbers to use.
Also we would probably need to input a ratio for Primary to Secondary trade sizes.
Not sure how to code this when you can switch off either/or/both Primary & Secondary trades ...Ignored
DislikedHedging is in my thoughts for those huge runners that refuse to retrace. Let's see how things go for a while first.

DislikedOn a different matter, and to give you all a giggle - at least those of you who run or have run teenage daughters.
We all know that these can be wayward creatures, prone to wild outbursts of temper. On a good day.
Here in my part of the UK, we have a word for someone in a bad mood - 'mardy'.
I pitched up at a house last night to teach son and daughter, both teens. Said mum, "Son is going first. Miss Mardy Stropalot needs time to cool down."Ignored

DislikedCare to share your settings, etc.? Inquiring minds would like to know.
Thanx.

DislikedHi Rob...
Here are two set files and the respective versions of the EA. I'll include both as it might be difficult to sort out exactly what I'm running. Version control is a bit hard to manage. I will be leaving this run for the week...and set a different forward for the latest changes.
Cheers
