Sometimes the market prints a bar that looks like a test bar being any of the low volume variations. And a bar that many vsa'ers wil interpret as as a test.

But the test fails and the low is broken,

I think that this is definition of successful test.
We have a downtrend, and first test comes with high vol and wide bar, price goes down and comes back to that level and shows ND and next bar is down and decreasing vol and price goes down, successfullly tested that no buyers left.

Was just thinking that myself - hard to read from volume, although a based has formed. It's VERY interesting to see the ~20 pips of effort concerted move up in the last minutes of the H1 bar. I will be very interested to see where they close the week; I don't believe we are done to the downside. The Friday afternoon could be one of those drift-up on no news days.

BTW, GU looking/feeling more promising for upside movement; 1.605 support is on my chart from before, and now we've got a nice pin and support after breaking below 1.61.

Not sure yet about EU... my weekly bar is currently sitting as a NS.

A quick way to find it: search the member list (top left of this page) for polomine, and from his profile, click attachments - they'll clearly show, in the fourth post down.

That type of last minute buying in H1 especially always has me suspect. We're now up into the DPP, and so far rejected. I just get the feeling there is no real interest to take it either way hence, 1.40 and 1.395 I see as possible tests for next week; question is how much of the April 7 rate increase is built in to the euro and how will that bullishness stack up against the pile of issues that are building.

Frankly, I'm not sure why the hell eurocrats are talking up the euro, when it's export detrimental. Oh wait, they don't have real jobs like the rest of the Europeans - they're insulated, protected and oblivious to the real world!

Here is an oil etf I play. Matches the movements of oil well without the bull sh$$ stop hunts on futures. Next week is setting up for more topside testing. Ticker (oil) Nyse

One trade today on EU a long off a 2 bar reversal which was a test trade (small 0.25 lot single order) more than anything. Didn't work out and closed out at BE. Lesson learned was if you are going to test something don't do it while trading from your phone in the car .

Got a nice short on oil off a hidden test (low volume UT) into a high volume trigger.

We had a double top, high volume downbar closing on it's low (red line 1)... trigger level. Red line 2 low volume UT test of trigger, Red line 3 entry bar.

...
7: high vol wide spread up bar, potential weak , but following bar are up, we are near a previous resistance area, I don’t really know what to read from those bars
8: Up gap, high vol down bar ( not ultra high) but still bearish
9: retracement on light volume, both up bar are No demand, near a resistance with 8 in the background : I took a short , stop 1 tick above above 8
Ignored
my 2-cents:

The 2nd bar after "7" is a squatbar - potential selling
but no reason for to go short from the following bars.

"8" looks like a not much buying pressure bar, if u compare its vol and spread to the 2nd bear-candle after your "7". since its vol is not ultra high, i would not think it contained selling in this bar. furthermore, looking to its left, i don't see any resistence level. Hence, there is no reason for me to want to short here at all..

it's just what i think,.. but i could be wrmong, so it would be good if someone more experience can give comments for your chart.

FOMC member must be sounding very Hawkish... 40 point drop since her started speaking... Or could be a last push from London to lock in some shorts and wipe out some longs before the weekend.

Last 15min was ultra wide, ultra high volume on EU... does the same priciple apply to downbars as it does to up?
