Does anyone use 2 trading systems, one for when a market is ranging and one for when the market is trending?
Also, when do you know or how do you evaluate when to switch from one system to the next?

Since most of the time the markets range, I'm trying to learn how and when to go from one to the other.

Any help or insight, would be much appreciated.

Thanks....

Look at larger time frame charts, 240, D, and you can see when price is stuck in a range. If range bound, just trade off of the S/R areas. Once it breaks through, it may be back to trend following.

Check out the GBP/JPY 60 and 240 min charts to see an example of range bound action VS trending. Stuck in a range right now...

you should have 2 trading strategies. one for ranging and one for trending.
i am no expert here.. but i find ranging is the easier to trade.. just find it support and resistant. Then you just trade along the sup and resistant.
But do your homework first on how to do just that.. it not that simple as i have put it.

20% of the time the market trends, the rest will range.
My oppion is that you should have a trading strategy(only one) that will work on both cases.
If you are unnsure, better check the trading system thread

i'm sure the list of "ways" to this area nearly as endless as there are traders, though there is some merit in the idea that if one learns to trade profitably in a ranging market, which may include simple entries based off engulfing candle formations or range-breakouts after interaction of local S/R areas on intraday time frames, one could also apply this to entry on a trending market. . . at least it's been profitable for many i've rubbed elbows with (and for myself).
