Hello,

I was planning to open a MT4 ECN account at ATC Brokers, but I doubt from yesterday.

Today, just after the non-farm employment announcement, I got the feeling that ATC Brokers data feed was delayed. Yesterday, during Bernake's speech, I got the same feeling.

I am running an ATC MT4 ECN demo account and an Alpari UK MT4 account.

Today, about 3 minutes after the non-farn employment announcement, I made a printscreen (see attachement). At 14.33 hours and 26 seconds (my local time), bid and ask on EURUSD were about 20 (!) pips higher at ATC Brokers compared with Alpari UK and the Russian site http://www.forexpf.ru/_quote_show_/java/.

Yesterday and today, bid and ask at Alpari UK and http://www.forexpf.ru/_quote_show_/java/ were synchonized all the time, but at ATC Brokers they seemed to be delayed during the news events.

I doubt now ATC Brokers. Are they a good and honest broker or can't I trust them because of delayed data feed or other bad things?

I've had a live account with ATC for a while. Many, many posts and threads about them here, so please just do your research. However, I will make a couple quick comments.

They are an IB for FXCM-UK, so that's where your money is traded. They provide an ECN MT4 platform, using FXCM's "no dealing desk" pricing. The execution delays, price delays, etc., all have to do with FXCM, not ATC.

There have been recurring problems re. execution, slippage, etc. I have addressed these things directly with ATC, and they are responding adequately. The ATC guys are completely honest, and really go to bat for their clients if there's ever a dispute with FXCM. BUT, you still have to deal with FXCM issues, and that's where the problem lies.

Re. "right after non-farm payroll", not sure how long you've been trading, but that's one of the most volatile times of the month. Very common to see what you saw...

Best wishes...

If I search on this forum, I get many results on "ATC Brokers", but for me it is difficult to find threads purely about ATC Brokers. Most search results are found in threads about other issues, where ATC Brokers are only briefly mentioned. Is there a way to search on key words which occur in the title of a thread?

On websites as http://www.fxintel.com/ ATC Brokers usually have the tightest spreads. For that reason and for the fact that I have read many good reviews on this broker, I was planning to choose for ATC.

I learned that they get their price feed from FXCM (I have read about their problems in the past), but I didn't know that FXCM still has problems and so ATC has. But I think I can conclude not to choose ATC as my broker.

Other options for me are MB Trading, maybe FXopen or Dukascopy if they have MT4 live. The strange about Dukascopy is that they claim to be ECN, but their spread increments are 0,5 pips..

Which broker would you recommend? Which one do you use?

I still do not trade, I'm only on demo for a while. But I know about the importance of the non-farm payroll. That's why I looked critically at the price feed at that time and made a printscreen.

Yes, I noticed the same thing last night whilst watching ATC prices against both Dukascopy and Interactive Brokers prices. The spread on ATC pairs where significantly higher than the other two. I was quite surprised.

A few months ago whilst demoing the FXCM Trading Station platform
it was also very clear and obvious that their spreads where vastly greater than both Dukascopy and IB.

I was hoping to open a live account with ATC, but I am not entirely sure now!

You prob need to avoid ATC for now. As stated they get their price feed from FXCM and while it seems they started out providing ATC a clean feed. It now seems to be manipulated by FXCM so they can rip-off ATC clients plus there are a lot of slips, disconnects and other crap that FXCM does to them too. They're currently not worth the hassle anymore.

Go with Advanced Markets, www.amifx.com

VERY low spreads, US broker, NFA regulated, and fastest execution anywhere.

Above is the main thread I know of re. ATC, but sounds like you already found that. Yeah no offense earlier; it's just that sometimes people that have done NO research at all come on here expecting everyone to just hand them every answer. Clearly though that's not you...

I fully understand if you don't go with ATC right now. I really hate to say that because they are guys with a lot of integrity, but as Aja mentioned, FXCM is royally screwing everything up lately. I've gotten slips as bad as 22 pips recently, during the ASIAN session!!

If ATC goes with a different liquidity provider/vendor in the near future, I'd be very comfortable recommending them again.

Re. other brokers, the recommendations I've seen posted here look pretty good. If you want MT4, I'd say FXDD. I use them and they are ok. They are a bucketshop, but the best bucketshop in my opinion. Trade execution is far better than any other MT4 broker I've tried (and I've tried a bunch). Also, they allow micro lots, and low opening deposit. They also just became NFA regulated (not that that guarantees anything).

MB Trading is ok too. I left them because their commissions used to be outrageous, but I think they lowered them recently. Other negatives are they shutdown their platform everyday for like 10 minutes (absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable in this day and age!!), sometimes execution was not so great, etc. But they are acceptable...

Ok, well best wishes as you begin your trading career!!

Last week was my first week trading with these guys. Started out on thursday, the day the market went nuts. Had every single problem you could possible imagine trading that day. Had 10 pip slip on e/u, after it was a frozen trade I had entered, that went through about 5 mins later. Then while in a position later in the day, a different trade I entered, became untradeable for about an hour and a half. I went through CS and received a refund for the slippage, but I was still helpless in my open, locked trade. They told me they were contacting fxcm to clear up the problem. I guess they can't handle it themselves Its unfortunate because they could have easily done it, with the great team of CS people they had online. About an hour and a half later I was finally able to close it myself. It was a rough experience. To be completely fair though, every other single mt4 platform I had open, all were having similar problems (though not quite as severe). Because of the uniqueness of the day, I am willing to give them another shot. I'll update how it goes if your interested.

All right, but I have read so much misery about bucketshops, that I actually want an ECN with MT4. But thanks for pointing me to this one. I will definitely remember.

Commissions are ok I think: $2,95 per 100,000 traded. On their website I read about the shutdown of their platform and I almost couldn't believe my eyes! It's when they calculate rollover fees around 5:00 p.m. EST. Another crazy thing about them: you always pay rollover, never receive.

They have a standard form to fill out for trades that you want reviewed, and I did submit that. They have credited my account in the past for BS things like this, so not worried about ATC making good, but it's just become a much more common occurrence lately. And as mentioned, it's entirely FXCM's fault as far as I'm concerned.

Was trading GY; platform just ATC's MT4 standard...

Interesting, thanks for the info. I've been tempted by their spreads, but I only trade off of ECN books. I'm really hesitant to trade size with just a quote (not knowing how much volume the quote is good for).

I'm assuming there's very little volume backing up these too-good FXCM/ATC raw quotes (given these slippage reports). Their spread on AJ has been under a pip recently, roughly a third of other brokers, and even less than their own spread on AU (which makes almost zero sense).

Great service last night, praying it can keep up. Can imagine being with them forever if they can play ball like they did last night. Had instant fills, no slips, and they gave me a free 20 too, which was unexpected. I'll post another update eow or so for those interested.
