Regarding a possible filter......Dont try and pick the top or bottom with the candle hitting the BB,,,wait for a reverse candle,,such as a different color and set a buy/sell stop 3-5 pips above or below the signal candle,,,,,Let the PA enter the trade for you,,,,,then enter your stop above or below the previous candle.....

I just looked back on a 1H EUR/USD, and I see plenty of losers. More than I would want to mess with.

Almost all of them occur when the MACD is a bar or two from crossing the zero line.

Using the MACD, over/under the zero line, is a poor way to determine trend.
A MACD under zero, but headed upward, indicates a more powerful uptrend than a MACD above zero and flat, or headed downward.

I would get rid of the MACD and use something else- maybe the slope of a MA. 34 EMA is a good one.

I don't think this will work, no matter what you use.

I have seen a number of systems based on BB touches and have never seen one make money.

Not really no, but Im not system hunting, and I saw enough to know I probably wasn't interested. He asked for another indicator, or price action, I provided both of these as they work for me thats all... add that to the system and I'll bet it would weed out a few bad trades along the way.

finally, this looks very promising.
I'm wondering if there is already
A) a combination indicator that shows when
1) price is equal to or less than lower BB, and at same time
2) MACD is above 0 and vice versa.

OR at least
B) price candles that are blue when MACD is positive, red when negative (so that both MACD indicator and BB are on the same graph).

This would be great for quickly scanning past charting to see when another indicator would help to filter for the best signals.

Hi,

Nice thread. I think that you would be missing out too many entries with only the touch of the band opposite to the trend. I would consider the cross of the middle line of BB or better, MACD(5,10,5) crossing the 0 line in direction of the trend.
