Newbie programmer.. a quick glance would help a lot

Hello, i am new to programming, and i am working on my first EA. I am having some trouble, so i decided to go back to the basics and go from there. I am trying to get a very simple ea to work.. I have two Moving averages, and when one is higher than the other, all i want is a simple alert indicating that. I have built it so i can that, every tick should produce and alert message, but for some reason I get nothing when i run the the EA!! I am super frustrated, i figure once i can understand why this won't work, i can use that reason to figure the rest out.. Please help, i read all the documentation i could and i just don't see my error....

I would suggest that you might move the variables to above start() not that I can really see how it might make a difference.

Either way.. the simplest way is to use the print command to debug it.

if ( MA1 > MA2) Print ("comment here");

Then run it and look back through the logs to see what it knows... maybe you speaker is on the blink

From looking at it could you see any reason why this simple program wont work.
I'm using a demo account, does the broker I'm demoing with make a difference on how i write certain variables?

Change your "bool" to a "double" your using the wrong variable call. Bool is true/false.

bool Ma1, Ma2;

Ma1 = iMA(NULL,0,Period_MA1,0, MODE_SMMA,PRICE_CLOSE,0);
Ma2 = iMA(NULL,0,Period_MA2,0, MODE_SMMA,PRICE_CLOSE,0);

Highlight the iMA, hit F1 (for Help), and see what the data type is that is returned by MA.
