Problem with opening ex4 indies

Hi all i have a simple problem and been searching on here for a solution but no result so i thought i would ask...

When i "click" ex4 program it opens in metaeditor as "EX4

" thats it were am i going wrong? they little squares by the way...

You can't open ex4 files. They are the compiled code. Metaeditor only opens mq4 files.

Ok so how do i open my file ? and run it in my MT 4 platform?

.ex4 files are already compiled, so you just put them in the experts/indicators folder and restart the terminal

Thanks ronald and lux but there is nothing to put into any file it comes up with "EX4 and a few squares" one would expect script or something there, i have no idea i will keep searching on how to do this, i also search for the ex4 file and its no were to be found...anyway thanks for your time and patience..

You simply install the .ex4 file by putting it into the experts or the experts/indicators folder, depending on whether it is an indi or an EA. There is nothing else that you can do with an .ex4 file other than just using it. You cannot edit it, you can only use it as it is.

Metaeditor can only be used for making changes to it if you have the source code of that .ex4 .ex4 files do not contain any sourcecode, they are the compiled binary end-product. The source would be contained in a separate .mq4 file and some programmers chose to not publish the source. All you can do then is just use it as it is.
