is it good idea to trade during the holidays??

I haven't been trading for that long and I'm just thinking of keeping a few positions open during the holidays. Is this a good idea since there will probably be low volume and high volatility during the holiday season?? Thanks

You will see different opinions on this. I was waiting to short the Euro in December because of this knowledge: http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...stcount=163806 and as you can see it worked out well. Thank you Jade gate. Some traders close out and pack up for the whole of December.

As you will see from the chart they were long euro for the previous few months. If we close a long it has the same effect on the market as opening a short.

If you are considering keeping a position open through the holiday period then you are trading the daily or weekly. I see no problem as long as your stops are realistic.

Keeping your positions open during the holidays is fine as long as your protective stop loss is in place. But personally I do not open any positions during these times as they tend to be very unpredictable. Better safe than sorry.
