Hi all,

I am relatively new to MT4 - can someone please advise me on how to close half of the position in MT4?

say my lot size is 0.1 and I want to close 0.05 with some profit, How can I do that in MT4, if its possible at all?

Thanks
Puks

I don't think you can close less than 0.1 of a position. I'm still relatively new to MT4 also but pretty sure you can't.

If your broker allows micro-lots (0.01 to 0.09) you can change manually the amount to be closed in the "Volume" box to 0.05.

If it doesn't or either is a mini account where 0.1 lots represent one micro-lot instead of a mini-lot, unfortunately you won't be able to partially close the position.

You're welcome!

I only wish I had known this a few years ago, sigh...
But it's never too late!

Hi Doblece,

Thanks very much for your advise. I didn't know this before. Yes, my broker does offer 0.01 lot size and after reading your post, I just closed 0.01 out of my 0.05 position.

Thanks again for your help. its been quite helpful.

Best regards and happy pipping :-))
