opened an account => an account manager contacted me !!!

Hi

I just opened my first forex account with fxsol. i received a welcoming message from someone who claims to be an account manager. he asked me how much and the method i funded my account

what does he want from me?

he wants to know what size commission he's going to make of you.
i see. i thought he was assigned for technical support. i will nicely turn down his services to manage my account (therefore his title account manager .. i get it )
Be nice to him, he might just be your account manager who you go to when you have a problem!

Strange questions to ask though, surely he's know how much you funded your account with and how???

It's always proper to be polite of course, but I've never heard of an account manager for a self directed account, so I wouldn't worry about it either way. Sounds like his entire purpose was to get you into a managed account.

Really? It's getting quite popular in Europe lately, all sorts of companies are trying to offer the 'personal touch'......not that the account manager will probably be available when you call but everyone likes to feel special.

When I had an account at IB a few years ago I got an account manager, more than likely shared with another 5,000 IB clients!

Yeah possibly I'm not sure; I've never had one myself, although I'm not against the idea as long it wasn't a tactic to "upsell" me on some managed account or something...

probably, fxsol has account managers to make money off clients beside spreads. another account manager contacted me before i signed up for an account and right after i had a little chat online about opening an account.
