Determining trend - Need help...

i am trying to determine the direction of the price movement...how do i know that price has been moving up and then there has been some congestion or whether price has been moving down and then there is some congestion?? basically i am trying to go long or short....i will go short at the highs and longs at the lows....

so thru mql, how will i know whether there has been a run up and i am at the highs or whether there has been a run down and that i am at the lows??

Btw, you can't tell if you're already at the highest/lowest price because you don't know the next bar's high & low yet

Many traders ...professional or Forum professionals(whatever) have one rule in very common !
Go with trend! But no one has a real answer when it comes to trading..all with vague answer...mostly say...we know with experience!....
others plot a MA based on TF....etc etc!

To be frank, i also wanted to start a thread once.."how to find trend based on any TF".... but didnt feel some one can really help or say they want to help!

Still some long term trend can definitely be catched with some MA but then throat gets quite lacerated when trend changes , trading with MA's

I have something I am working on.

It is working pretty well in tests so far but could still do with some improvement.

It works like this.. it does not use limit or instant execution orders, (although it can). It uses buystop orders that follow the market down. If the short term trend is wrong, it doesnt buy.

I have included some pictures to show how it works. You will see a bunch of deleted buystop orders that are deleted and reset every 14 minutes on the 15 minute chart.

Still needs working on.. I am doing it myself and I know nothing about programming so it is taking a while.

It only buys at the moment but as soon as I have that side sorted out I will start on perfecting the sell.

This is the results for a quicker look without downloading the backtest.

Trend works and I think it is worth pursuing. Just need to get EAs to handle the many bumps in the trend.
