Hi

Time for me to choose a new device for trading "on the go". And I will appreciate if you can stop by to give your opinion.

Please post your recommendation of which phone/pda goes best with which platform/broker. And any other talk will be great.

Thank you

I recently had a Samsung Omnia and used it with Saxo but the charts and usability of the combination was not "feasible".

Any advice?

I don't use it very often but the HTC Touch HD has a nice screen, MT4 charts seem to work ok but probably not a lot better than on your Omnia.

How about a tablet or mini laptop?

I've been using HTC Touch Pro 2. I only use it to monitor my trades. Charts show up quite well on the 3, 6" screen. I've closed out a couple of trades and done some TA with it. I might be a bit clumsy, but for me it is hard to draw trend lines with it. Overall I still wouldn't use it on active trading as I find it rather toilsome to do thorough analysis cause of miss clicks on the touchscreen etc.

I use my iPhone with an app that lets me remote into my trading computer. I don't need a special platform or broker. Whatever I have running on my computer appears on my phone.

same, logmein.com is a good solution, but there are many other remote. Simple way to at the least keep in touch with your own trading + platforms

Logmein is ok, but some expensive.
I'm using Mocha VNC for remote connection with my trading pc. Works ok and a bit cheaper then Logmein

For those of us who use MT4, have an iPhone and would prefer not to use remote viewing software (having been in IT for the last 15 years, I know it makes more sense for the device to deliver the information I need), try here:

i am really keen to get a htc phone with windows 6.1 on it so i can trade on it using mt4. these phones are quite expensive.. more expensive than my laptop...

what should i do? better just to buy a smaller laptop than to stuff around with a small mobile phone?

sounds like the general consensus is, its pretty hard to trade using mt4 on a mobile device..

a better alternative ? a 10inch laptop for on the go?

thanks in advance

Hello Supermatt....I guess it depends on what one mean by "on the go"

If one do your analysis in the morning, have your trade plan in place and know the key levels, then it will be easy to follow the markets from a phone and optomize your entry point and exit point.

However if you want to do analysis on the go....then you would need to carry a mini laptop with?

Cheers...

Yea,I totally agree with I like steak. It's only good to use a phone to keep track of your trading and monitor prices. To execute your trade I suggest that you use at least a mini laptop (cheaper, bigger screen, full functionality of your platform) so that you wont have any mistake while trading. Moreover, a phone will be bad for your eyes in the long run even you can zoom in. I only use my phone to monitor my trade and only during emergency when there's good setup which I really need to execute 'on the go'. Other than that, I trade on my laptop most of the time even in the office.Haha.(Btw, I use an old Dopod 838pro with no glitches on MIG platform)
