Client Services 50: ok let me explain you what happened
Client Services 50: On April 7, 2007, an electronic file containing personal information provided by certain individuals who had applied for an Interbank FX account prior to this date was inadvertently compromised by an employee. This employee’s actions—placing a file outside of the company’s firewalls and secure computing environment, was contrary to Interbank FX policies and procedures, compromising the security of the information in the file.
Client Services 50: Upon learning on March 28, 2008 of this incident, Interbank FX took specific steps to remedy this incident, including:
Client Services 50: • Reporting this incident to our regulators (CFTC & NFA) and other federal and state authorities.
Client Services 50: • Notifying all customers/individuals involved and offering them free Equifax Credit Watch Gold with 3-in-1 monitoring for a 1 year period.
Client Services 50: • All files containing sensitive personal information were removed from the unsecured server within hours, brought within the Company’s firewalls and electronic security controls.
Client Services 50: • IBFX encouraged all customers to change any password they created for an Interbank FX account prior to April 2, 2007.
Client Services 50: Interbank FX operates within a safe harbor. This was simply an employee violating our internal policy. This action was not malicious, but a poor lack of judgment by one of our employees.
Client Services 50: Now, over two years later, Interbank FX has not heard of any case where someone’s personal security information has been damaged.
Client Services 50: In light of the settlement agreement with the CFTC, Interbank FX has acted appropriately and works daily to ensure the safety of our loyal customers. We take customer security very seriously and are committed to protecting all confidential information. .
Client Services 50: If you were not notified in April 2008 by IBFX then your information was not compromised.
I remember this "incident" well. I received their email along with a 300 pip mystery spike as well. That was the very day I closed my account(the spike was the deciding factor really) . Because of this incredibly stupid error on their part, I had lost ALL confidence in IBFX as a serious avenue of investment. And according to a man named carlos(IBFX flunky) , many clients had ALL their most important details exposed to the public. CC#s/SS#s/ BankAccount#s/Names Addresses-I mean WOW! Scary aint it? Still , I wasnt so upset with my exposed info as that damm mystery spike crap. Just for the record,I have not heard of one case where this exposed info cost a client money. Just lucky i guess,this time.

It certainly wasn't deliberate and doesn't appear to have resulted in any serious consequences, but it sounds to me like they gave some high schooler access to classified information without the proper training. That certainly speaks volumes to a lack of professionalism. The fact that this person was only reassigned away from classified information says even more. Obviously they don't make enough off 300 pip spikes to hire competent help.

Well put taxgeek-Forex is hard enough w/o this stuff going on. I cant believe they are going to prosper after 7-31-09 with all those new NFA rules-I dont think much of a an NFA registration anyway-totally a toothless , (and so far) useless bunch of overpayed Do-nothings that never seem to help us Forex Traders-only impose stupid regulations that will kill American Forex . Just look at FXDD-they are not NFA registered and they do fine. I guess I will be sending more US Dollars overseas-again! I didnt realize that employee wasnt fired! Maybe his last name is Crossland?
