Hey All,,,
For some reason BoxFibo and BoxFibo extra load do not seem to work on Gold or Indices....it works perfectly fine on Oil and currencies tho.
Anybody able to remedy this?

Heres a couple screenshots of how it should be on an Oil chart and a Gold chart showing it only displays the high(and price).

it says if u will change the name of the indcator then it will not work,so be careful

I don't think that's really the same. A currency strength indicator is based on finding the movement strength of individual currencies, using ratios of currencies. As you know if eurusd and gbpusd is rising, eurgbp is flat, then the eur and gbp are probably both flat in strength, and usd is falling in strength. But indexes, or any non-pair symbol don't have pairs, unless you say every symbol is a pair with usd because it's priced in usd, like the sp500 is really sp500/usd, but then you'd still have no ratio because every usd priced symbol is already showing you it's strength. To get the relative strength of nonpair symbols, it's really just the chart of each, prices aside, comparing the shapes of each, perhaps with a common starting point in time, and all normalized to the same vertical scale as multiples of the symbol's own spread or it's atr.

If you go ahead with that definition, then the pseudocode would be something like

  1. leave currency pairs out, or calc separately
  2. enter a list of symbols to use, presumably all are priced in usd anyway
  3. choose a starting time in the past, as in some candle index
  4. cycle through chosen history, cycle through symbols at each candle

    1. choose method to norm values, eg based on spread, atr, or %change

      1. if spread, save the current spread of each symbol
      2. if atr, then save the daily atr of the previous completed day for each symbol
      3. if %change then get the %change per candle when calculating

    2. all symbols start at 0 strength, which would be the vertical scale at 0
    3. for each candle get some normed value

      1. delta = price change from start
      2. if spread, val = delta / current spread
      3. if atr, val = delta /atr at start
      4. if %, val = delta / start price

    4. each symbol has it's own line, value as the val above

It wouldn't work for anything with a price above 999. Attached seems to be fine.

The problem is an easy fix. Line 55 sets "vLow = 999;" where "999" is an arbitrary value which it assumes is greater than the lowest-real-Low value.

That assumption is valid for (most?) currencies, and Oil, but most indices and Gold will have Low values that exceed 999 which violates the assumption.

Change "999" to "DBL_MAX" (or any arbitrary large number which will always be above the lowest-real-Low value).

Can I ask How to increase the font size for the price levels on the Box Fibo extra load indicator ?

I am so non techy lol...but I did open up the editor the other day for the first time in years...and I can actually see how to change the parameters as you have laid out !! That says alot the its actually crystal clear what you told me considering I have never delved into this before... So cheers !

Funny I have popped into this thread many many times over the years but have never asked for help on here and am so thankful for this community that helps one another.

Not too push the help button to far lol... But is it difficult to add in a 1x the range both ways of the box...So a 2fib ext and a -1.. As I use those as one of my main targets.... I see line 79 and 83 in the editor with the correct levels but zero idea what to do with it

You do that by deleting the 2 greyed out forward slashes on the levels you want to activate.

The lines will become re-activated and lose the greyed out text.

To add some context of what I have been asking for help with and one of my many methods/setups...
Heres a chart of Gold last weds and thurs and I am showing you the basics of one of my setups using the Asia box and the NY box.
I base everything of all my setups off these exact boxes Tokyo and NY .. I dont incorporate the London session as my thesis is the day is set by Asia.

I use 9 different entry setups with these boxes..Some I wait for a retracement others I enter upon opening of the NY box etc,,some I use Moving averages...So this is just an example of one of my favorite setups.

There is more to it but the pics will give you the gist of it.

I dont want to pollute this thread with non tech issues but figured one post is fair to at least show what ive been asking for help with....

Hi All,
Can I ask you to take a look at the attached EA.
It is supposed to copy a trade based on Magic Number and open it in opposite direction.
problem is it does not open the the trade.

Hey Blue just call me edineball,,,,and I trade indices every day beginning at the NY open.

I think you might like some of the things I have put together regarding trading precious metals and indices. They certainly pay attention to detail about session open times, daily highs and daily lows and Yesterdays close.

I trade only Dow at the NY session open which is 8 am NY time, and futures open which is 9 30 am NY time
you only need these times to trade every day to make a nice income.

Cheers Edineball Yes those are the times I trade as well....Im all about the detail of those areas you have mentioned !! I normally post over on the Flying Dutchman thread.. You should pop over there.. Its just a general chat and nothing hard set on how one trades vs another.. Just all doing our own thing but a few trading the NY open

Hello coders.

I wonder if you could indulge me and create me an EA.

I would like to use the Stochastic Oscillator:
First trade on candle close, Shift - 1, crosses the 50 mark,(crosses above for buy and below for sell).
If a trade goes against, then the next trade goes in at 10 pips drawdown, next after that goes in again at another 10 pips drawdown, and so on.

(Now here is the kicker)
Instead of using a fixed stop losses or take profit, I would like:
when the profit of all buys gets to £2, stop loss starts at £0.20 for ALL buys together, when the profits get to £5 then a trailing stop loss would step by £1 for all open buys.
The sells would be the opposite.
Obviously all these trades would start at 0.01 lot size.

I am not a coder but through all of my efforts I cannot get the trailing stop loss sorted out, I have been trying to learn code as I go along.
