Depends on the trader and how ruthlessly the trade can apply discipline and knowledge or whether the trader is a waste of time hobby trader - my observation - may or may not be useful
- Professional footballers study footage of past games - virtuoso pianist study past music scores (not quite the same but close enough) - a study of historic charts past price behavior - for manual trading - is vital.

- Every weekend or with regular consistency put aside time to study chart price behavior - all timeframes especially preferred timeframe referenced against a week duration. In other words spread Mon to Fri all in one view.
- Although not absolutely essential, f-off large multi monitors enhance the experience. However, the big swinging dick monitors are not the issue. The utility value of the investment is. 42 inch and above second hand flat TVs, in nick condition and as cheap as chips, are everywhere.
- TA and PA and BE are all over the internet. This may not be so visible - although the study is related to stocks it also applicable to Forex, Indexes etc. Only a few required but handy to have on hand for reference - http://thepatternsite.com/chartpatterns.html
- After a while the average weekly ranges for different instrument will start to slot into the mind - however, I will shortly post a ADR - AWR indicator.

- Eventually one may conclude that the only indicators required are a straight line, a curved line and basic BE, TA and PA and one or two extras like Fibo Retracements.

Hey Phylo ! I was trying to make a joke about all our madness here (most of myself) looking years and years for the magic-indi which doesn`t exist. Instead of switch to a ice-cold routine. Trading is ALL about a strong mind, as price can only go in two directions... Wasn`t expecting such a useful and interesting answer. THANKS for your time and effort. RESPECT.
