I need to find a reliable source of news which has minimal time delays. I constantly see markets move drasically when I have a position only to find that there was a piece of news which sent the market into a frenzy. Unfortunately I only find out from Yahoo or the like half an hour or so later when it is too late to react. Can anybody help?

See the calendar tab near the top of the page, it is in between forum and news... try that.

That is still too late to trade. If you want it delievered quick then you need to get connected to a specialist news delivery service. They cost though. And you can get just as much info from a chart - it'll tell you everything there is to know about the expectations of market participants and how they receive the news as soon as it comes out. You won't get it any quicker than the guys who move the market, so what's the point? Retail brokers killed off news spike trading some time ago by increasing spreads at news times and issuing requotes. If you do trade on ECN then you're still looking at outrageous slippage. Personally I do not believe that it is avenue worth looking at, although others may disagree. Get a flavour on some technical analysis and none of that stuff matters, it'll just give you an idea of when to take a break.

I've got an old broker who I used to trade live with who I still get Dow Jones Newswire from. Most major news gets delivered fairly rapidly but every second counts.

You might also check out this link:

(Kudos to efiler for passing that link to me, hope he doesn't mind)
