Trading System help needed

Hello everyone,

I've been monitoring this forum for some time and found information here extremely useful. I'm relatively new to FOREX and have several ideas that I would like to test out on TradeStation. Problem is, I know nothing about EasyLanguage and given that my schedule is packed as it is it will take me months to get to know EL even remotely well. Instead, I decided to ask gurus of this site (Merlin and other pros) for help. I basically need you guys to write the code for my ideas. They are rather simple, include only two or three inputs, so I am sure it will not be a challenge. I understand that you are very busy with your own trading and other commitments and I value your time. I am open to different suggestions (including paid help) so please leave any of your suggestions or comments here to discuss.

joe, there are a number of tradestation consultants that are in the business of doing exactly what you are looking for. they charge $50-$100 an hour. TS has an entire listing of these EL consultants on their website.

Check out http://www.fxengines.com/index.jsp you can set up systems and run tick by tick back test for free. The only drawback is you can only test for shorts or longs so you have to run 2 tests and combine the results yourself to check your ideas.

I registered with these guys. Their service is good, problem is that the tools that they offer do not allow me to design the entry and exit points that I want.

One of the best ways to test these simple systems is to go back in time and play TS forward one candle at a time. See how it works when you actually simulate trading.

mechanical backtesting simply tells you that a computer would be really good or bad at trading a particular system. But what about a human?

The other way that I have tested really successfully is to trade the system on a demo account for at least a week -- and then look back over the trades. Was I able to trade the system successfully? Did it work as I thought it would?

I call this forward-testing. It is MUCH more reliable for me.

great point rob. one of the biggest considerations i make on a mechanical system is how easily i can replicate how the computer traded in the past. i call this "tradability".

Forward testing is the best way to test - also tests your emotions. currently TRAIN (live system) is 5 long USD - plan to close in the next spike today.

There is a site called elance.com that many folks will bid on any needs you have for cheap! I have used it and it is great. Also if you want help I just search for it in google as you probably know.
