I was merely making a point of why I, not you or anyone else, have a hard time really befriending trend lines.
No worries, if TL's are too subjective for your taste, it's ok with me, I find them friendly enough on their own.

It does take two to tango after all.

Does anyone have any experience of point and figure charting? Looks like hard work to determine what a price chart will tell you already?

I love P&F charts. For me they filter a lot of noise out of the picture. I don't trade them per se, but I will use them to confirm/correct any line studies I'm utilizing on my primary charting. And if you're talking about drawing your own, I'm sure it has some small educational merit, but Oanda has them at their site for the majors.

Do you think they are better for longer term trading? I'm thinking of weekly charts.

I wouldn't look at a P&F smaller than the daily, and the weekly is the most informative.

Perfect. What about the box size and reversal for a weekly chart and would you just need to check the chart at the end of the week and trade if a signal has appeared or would you monitor it during the week to check for a new signal? Is it possible to place pending orders for if a double/triple top/catapult/whatever is broken?

Like I said, I don't trade them, I just use them to correct/confirm the placement of SR and TL's.

You'll need to open a demo account, and I find the software pretty processor-intensive (LOL>>>could be the other platforms I'm running simultanously), follow that link and read the next few pages of the thread where Saxon talks about his settings.
Don't get too obsessed with the EUR/USD pair....there are some pretty interesting EUR/XXX set ups after last week.

EUR/CHF, EUR/JPY are two that come to mind, on the weekly charts....

Eurcad closed last friday -0.2% loss. after being 0.8% up. Ah well
I just tried a demo of the AVA Trader platform demo. What a load of crap. I'm just trying their mt4 demo now.

Edit: Oh yes, nice mix of forex and cfd's on a good platform. I'm signing up for this one asap.

Well, I don't believe this at all....but you can't fight the charts I suppose. I am still wondering what 1.35 will bring.

Oh yeah - stick with MT4 if it's what you are used to....certainly. I really wish I lived in a country that was free and a little less "protective" of it's citizens. You can "gamble" on the outcome of a sporting event, but can't "speculate" on the price of corn. Go figure.

Correction: You can only gamble on that sporting event if you're sitting in a Vegas Casino... Try to place that bet anywhere else in the USA (including online) and you've broken the law.

I agree with you though -- This is the land of the free. Let me do what I want with my own money (so long as it doesn't hurt others).

Correct, in Nevada I should have stipulated. But......I believe all states have lotteries and "scratch-off" tickets.....
