Tradestation easy language

Good evening, im looking for some help regarding my current problem. atm im trying to figure out how to programme a stop based on the ATR.

unfortunately I havent been able to find an example or been able to find anything useful in the easy language dictionary.

any help would be appreciated

The language of choice around here is MQL with the MT platform. You might have some trouble getting help with Tradestation unfortunately

AvgTrueRange (Function)
In his book, New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems, Welles Wilder, Jr. uses a value know as true range in his directional movement calculations. He defines true range as the larger of the following:
The distance between today's High and today's Low.
The distance between today's High and yesterday's Close, or
The distance between today's Low and yesterday's Close.
AvgTrueRange is simply an average of the True Range values over a period of time.
Function
AvgTrueRange(LENGTH)
Parameters
LENGTH number of bars in the average
Returns
A numeric value containing the average of the true range over LENGTH bars.
Usage
The Average True Range tends to peak during periods of higher than average volatility and to bottom out during periods of lower than average volatility. The market tends to top out when Plot1 hits a new 18-bar High. The market tends to bottom out when the AvgTrueRange hits a new 18-bar Low.

below is the code for anyone who like myself is completely new to programming.

+ "LENGTH(X)" has to be included in the inputs.

if C < EntryPrice+AvgTrueRange(20) then begin;
Sell ( "Shortsale" ) Cts Contracts next bar at market ;
End;

the code you supplied, checks if the Closing price (at the end of the bar - no intra bar action) is above your Entry price of the trade + Average true range of 20 bars back, if so, the trade will be close as soon as a new bar opens.


i would recommend you place a line stating the following
this will make the code work faster because of removing redundant checks at incorrect positions states

Sell ( "Shortsale" ) Cts Contracts Next Bar Market ;
end

by the way i really hope that you are not Using ATR on highly volatile stocks with gaps like GOOG, or AAPL because gives very bad results in such situations
