Hi,
I’d like to know how EAs (generally) react to the following situations. Let’s consider a simple MA cross EA, TF=1H, which has taken a trade 2 hours ago. Then:
1) Power goes out and comes back 3 hours later. Will the EA still manage the trade/remember it has taken one? This happened last week and when I got my charts back on, the entry icons (small triangles) had disappeared in some cases (and not in some, I’m not sure about this as I follow 28 pairs).
2) For some obscure reason Windows decides to reboot your computer on a Wednesday.
3) You shut down your computer because it crashed and you completely reboot.
4) You inadvertently click the green “Expert Advisor” button in your platform (MT4) which becomes red and stays there for 30 minutes then click it back on to green when you realise what you’ve done.
5) Shut down the MT4 platform for 10 minutes and then reload it.
One last thing that has never been clear either is this.
6) Let’s say I want the EA to stop taking new trades Friday afternoon, but I’m still in a trade which I want it to close if conditions are met before market close. Should I turn the “Expert Advisors” button to off or rather untick the “allow live trading” in the Expert Properties/Common tab or something else (there’s no built-in function in the EA to do this). Or do I need to manually close the trade as the EA will have been turned off?
7) Oh, one last one, if you allow. You’re in 4 trades on Friday and decide to leave them through the week-end. No computer closing, just markets closing and re-opening on Sunday. Will the EA still remember those trades?
Many thanks to anyone who takes some of his/her precious time to answer any of these.
