So you're saying there might be something new to discover with MA's that hasn't been discovered yet ?
Ignored

Not at all my man - Just provoking thought is that such a crime>? But perhaps the only thought i provoked is my own lol - But thats ok

I am not desperate to find an answer here as I trade in other ways and to be honest dont have much use for MA's in the way I trade just interested to see where this may lead.

I've done it all with MA's. You will never manage to trade successfully only based on average's. Nevertheless, 21, 63 and 252 SMA which represents 1 month, 3 months and 1 year dealing-days in the fx market would be my choice if I was forced to use MA's. Because they, from time to time, seems to act as S/R.
I still believe that's all you can expect from so simple calculations or to define the trend if you having trouble with that.

Yes I agree on their own they are nothing but historical and lagging facts - an average of past data - how can this help?

But at the same time any osccilator or indicator is a glorified version of that sort of thing too - yet some people trade them quite successfully....

MTF stochastics for example can be used alone to generate accurate trading signals based on momentum.

A 14,3,3 stoch will simply take the past 14 periods and calculate what % of its price range its in and then smooth it with a 3 period moving average...

Whats so special about the past 14 periods? well when used in conjunction with different time periods it comes down to simple mathematics and supply and demand at work in the market.

Thats quite a presumtion and I can tell you now you're very wrong - Why when I've witnessed first hand the power of simple PA and S/R etc would I do this....?

I know that when the price is high enough above any MA it usually snaps back to it - This is the sorta thing im getting at

I was under the impression that MAs go to price, not vice-versa. Price can do whatever it wants, but the lowly, submissive MA has to move based on price. In other words, MAs don't control price, it's just the opposite.

Now, the normalized differences between EMAs, that's interesting to me.

Yes your right obviously MA's are the result of an average of price over the period of time but when this average has been heavily exceded is when the whole supply demand is thrown out and thus the over exhausted price pulls back towards it (in theory)

This is just a rough example on a 5m chart with a 20 period EMA the first 2 are inside bars pulling back to the EMA the 3rd one is an outside bearish bar..

the PA indicating the selling pressure -

Keep in mind this is in no way a tested system but hopefully spark some ideas feel free to post any you have - who knows we may even end up with a killer system - messing around with multi time frames, MA settings etc... OR maybe all we will find here is who hasnt had their eyes checked lately - Hey im easy

Well this has turned into a spactacular failure.... Forgive me for trying to start something from a different angle.

All we have learnt here is that 4 people havent had their eyes checked lately - 2 have - 6 people think I'm annoying and well as for the other 2.... hehe well they just crack me up

Anyhoo I guess I got what I was looking for here and this little experiment has been fun.

You're digging through old mud. And why are you so incredible touchy ? If you are serious about trading, you will face much bigger failure than havening a thread NOT going your way ! Come on ! If this was a big hit in your face, I cannot imagine that trading would be even close to fit your personality. Please don't cry, I'm not saying this to insult you, you just need a small reality-check, ok ?

Aediaz I appreciate your feedback point taken, it's great to have an opinion but greater to share it but for some reason I don't feel the need to justify myself to you apart from pointing out that the only person that seems to be getting touchy here is you...

Honestly my last post was meant to be just that - my last... I just wanted to end this silly thread. I really feel no pain or "big hits in the face" that it ended up the way it did and again I dont know where you got that idea.

It doesnt even matter.

As for "digging through old mud"... Well one mans junk is another mans treasure.... Think about it

As I said before - I got what I was looking for here...

Let this thread die peacfully it's wasting precious time. Thank you

Good luck in your endevours
