I tried to open an account witha broker located in the US, but was rejected as I am a citizen of a country that is under sanctions by the US. I am a permenant residien in North America for the past 8 years, but that still dosent count. There loss I was planning to start a $300 account
Now I am looking for a broker outside the US reliable, low spread, using MetaTrader Platform ( as I have been practicing using this platform for the past 2 months and I like it) and where I could trade micro lots?

Any suggestions?
TIA

To be a permanent resident, as you have been for the past 8 years, you should have a US Citizenship unless you keep extending your visa. Can you clairify and maybe we can properly direct you.

I read about forex accounts and want to open one. I live in Hong Kong. First, what about this broker stuff? Can I register for a forex account and where should I do it? Second, can I trade my self or do I absolutely need a broker? I see several places to open a trading account or mini account as they call it, but I have not tried it yet after reading about the rejections, what should I do?

Thanks for your feedback

I do not believe Hong Kong is on the list of banned countries so you'd have access to any broker.

Yes you can register for a real/live forex account. Almost all forex traders trade themselves although you can have a "managed account" where another entity trades your money for you.

You should first go to a brokers website and register a demo account then practice trading. Basically your trading with "play money" on a demo account but you learn how to trade that way.

As far as finding which broker to use to deposit your real money in once your ready to do so well everyone has a different opinion. Here's a link to read reviews on almost every broker there is and you can find one to open a demo account here as well. http://www.forexpeacearmy.com/public/all_forex_reviews (Just pick a broker then click on their "register demo account" link. Try to find a broker who uses MT4 or Metatrader 4 as it's a good platform to learn how to trade on).
