Is Interactive Brokers a good broker?

Hello all,

I recently opened an account with Interactive Brokers in 2024. I think August/September? I have been very profitable and wanted to take out some profits. As soon as I clicked the withdraw funds tab, IB gave me a QR code to scan to complete the 2 step verification. To do this, I have to download the mobile app. I already have 2 step verification on my account using their trading platform on my computer and SMS text code on my phone.

Questions:

1. Does anyone here on FF use the IBKR mobile app? If so, have you had any attack attempts on your IB account? Do you feel secure?

2. Has anyone successfully withdrawn funds from a small account? This is my first account with IBKR and is only about $10,000. Did not want larger funds into a broker after getting whacked in the past by companies like Refco that collapsed and could not withdraw fast.

3. Do you think Interactive Brokers is a bucket shop and will terminate profitable traders? I don't want to invest time and energy learning their platforms just to get the "Take your business elsewhere" message.

I was on there for a bit. But the app is rubbish, customer service is the worst I have ever seen (I had to have a call from Germany to Switzerland. Tho still not great if you get through. And expensive.
I used Blackbullmarkets and the customer service called me from Chicago to resolve issues.
If you can cover your assets with that, go for it.
I personally use Eightcap. Tho for a while only because they were connected with capitalise.ai which offered writing automized strategies.
To me customer service is a big priority. I would pay more commisions for that.
If you plan to trade NQ I highly recommand Ninjatrader.

IB is the SAFEST broker you can find for forex , not like all the rest ,99.9%, who are bucketshops who want you to lose > your loss is their profit

I use Interactive Brokers and never had issues with the mobile app or 2FA, it’s just an extra security step and works fine. Withdrawals from small accounts like 10k are usually smooth once everything is verified. I don’t see them as a bucket shop, they’re pretty strict on compliance but not targeting profitable traders in my experience.

Darwinex is another forex broker as good as IB, they in fact started working together a few years ago

Sounds good. I recommend that you look for a reliable and secure broker. Another equally important factor is the alignment of global prices; avoid market maker brokers that could end up costing you money. Once you’ve found one, make sure you understand the ins and outs of how it works so you can work with a broker that’s good and supportive.
