I've been asked by several FF members how to use Expert Advisors. I wrote the attached guideline to address some of the questions related to using EAs. Please post your relevant questions and comments. I would be more than happy to hear from you.

Good Luck,
Al

Your pages are mixed up in the PDF. Pages 3 and 5 are the same. There is no step 5. Probably on the missing page.

I think it is sometimes easier to tell people to restart MT4 rather than use MetaEditor to compile *.mq4 code.

When I looked into my files I found out that I had installed MT4 twice from the vendor. Somehow, I installed the pip boxer EA's to the other experts folder and I could compile them in the MetaEditor, but they would not show up on the MT4 Experts section. All is working correctly now...This may help anyone else out there as foolish as I.

Hello everybody

Thanks to everybody for their excellent posts. They have been really helpful.

I am hoping that somebody could help me with my problem.

I have been trying to attach certain EA's to charts. I have compiled them with no errors and after doing so, they appear in the Navigator box under "Expert Advisors". But, when I either double click them, or right click and select "Attach to a chart", nothing at all happens.

I am using Metatrader 4 which I downloaded just a few days ago for the first time. Metatrader 4 came with two default EA's. These being an MACD sample and a Moving Average EA. And both these defaults work just fine.

The EA's that I have been trying to install are Vegas1hour tunnels and some of Accrete's EA's. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you kindly.

Welcome to the forum.

My guess is that you are trying to attach an indicator, not an EA, to your chart. If you downloaded an indicator it should have been saved and compiled in the indicators directory which is a sub-directory of the experts directory / folder. The indicator would then show up in the navigator under 'Custom Indicators'. If saving the file as an indicator does not solve the problem please list the exact name of one of the files you got from Accrete.

Check the tabs at the bottom it may give you some info. I think it is the Journal tab.
