Oanda is one broker/marketmaker than publishes it's order book here:

http://fxtrade.oanda.com/resources/

What if we asked them, and a few other no-dealing desk brokers/MMs to publish their order flow here. If they're truly automatic then I shouldn't see a problem with this. In return we always credit them as the source.

We could also ask IBFX, EFX (I think - wonder if Justin could comment) and whoever else you could name.

Put all the info on one page, would make interesting reading from time to time.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see it here if possible?

I wouldn't think it would be to hard to output the data from Currenex since it is already visible.

Oanda has several order info charts....Fx open order summery, open position summary and Fx open positions ratio. You can see them here
on the open order and open position screens be sure to clik NON CUMMLATIVE, that setting gives you a much bettr veiw.
This data is updatd every hour.

here is a sample pic of the non cummulated graph.......

You could output it, but it's unlikley it would be of much use. Most of the open orders are BS and the ones that are real are iceberg. It also doesn't display any stop data or actual positions. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I could trade without the currenex depth any more, but it isn't going to help anyone on the forum.

The reason I would like to see order flow information be available on FF is because, for me, it is a good way of getting a sense of market sentiment.

Market sentiment is critical for evaluating how much news is likely to move the market. If the direction of a move based on news is against market sentiment, either the move will be blunted or will retrace drastically or totally right after the initial move. This is very useful to expect.

I had the pleasure of spending an entire day on the floor of the NYSE with one of their governors. This is no small feat in the post 9/11 world. I was amazed at the number of ways that larger orders are disguised as small orders or transacted without showing up on quote boards, or large resting orders that suddenly disappeared just prior to being hit. After that experince I have never trusted order flow or order books. Given that Forex is even less orderly than the NYSE, I can only imagine that the order flow you see is next to worthless. To this day, many large Forex orders are done over the phone without the use of any platform. This is a cat and mouse game. Make no mistake, you are the mouse.

i totally see your point, phil. limit orders, SLs, TPs that haven't yet been met are tentative at best, and like price, more than subject to change. but with the proper feel for it or a nice bit of math, it could be useful to be able to interpret this info, especially if it came streaming like price does, which it doesnt seem to at least on the oanda. at any rate it's a healthy reminder that the market's trajectory involves more than two dimensions... imagine seeing a 3d chart with a diagonal axis through the currently forming candle that had this info live.

An inordinate number of posts on this forum are about fraud, deceit, manipulation, and general distrust of brokers. Now you are going to believe the order book that they publish?

I think you would be better off concentrating on you vs. the market rather than worrying about what your fellow trader is doing. Looking at order flow is just another external disctaction along the path to enlightenment.

like i said i take your point, phil. just thinking hypothetically more than anything. current price is far more important to any trade, still i dont think you can really fault me for naively wanting that glimpse

yeah i traded NYSE stocks for a long time, back in the day. i know the game very well, and there are a million and one tricks. thats why i am so annoyed when people bitch and complain about their forex broker! if you traded NYSE you would see that snakes and rats are common in every market!
Relax and be happy.

I would love to see, the COT data build into FF.
I use www.cot-futures.com, and is really helpful ( When you know how to read this values) to see where The Big Dog want to go...
The only thing they do is read the file and make a scale from 0 to 100 base on past values...

Also the data is already there and free to get ...
I did a little, test on my server to implement something like them and its not to hard...
Sorry for my bad english translation
