Newbie help. Open/Close position.

Hi all. Tell me please, I open position (Buy). And in certain condition want to close. I tryed everything but ... Help me please with example.

First of all, since no one has said it yet, Welcome to Forex Factory!

To answer your question, when you have an order open and wish to close it, you need to open the "Terminal" where you will see your order. Then you can double click on that order and a box will pop up. There will be a yellow rectangle that says Close Order. Click that and the order will close.

Right click on the open order down at the bottom pane, and select "Close Order".... accomplishes the same thing as above... BUT!!!! be SURE to select "Close Order" if indeed you want to exit the order completely...

You DO have the option of taking both long AND short orders on the same pair.... So, this offers a hedging strategy, but maybe too much for now...

(and this is one of my "learning" points!!!) IF you are long, say, you bought. And you "Enter a New Order" and SELL the same amount, you will NOT cancel out the first order. What you will get is a long order, AND a short order of the same amount (if you sold the same amount)... Not what you wanted if you wanted to exit the position completely. PLUS!! you just had the privilege of paying your broker double pips, for now you have to close TWO positions, not just one....

Hope that makes sense... there are definately some nuances in the MT4 platform that are really great, but can cost you $$ if you don't know them. That is why a demo is great thing. Learn the mechanics of the platform with demo. buy, sell, set limits and stops... get in a losing position, and try to close ASAP RIGHT NOW NOW NOW!!! and see how you do.. (this will happen...;-)... I have lost many $$ in execution errors, even after demo. So please, don't discount the seemingly meanial (i.e. stupid!) activity of simply placing and modifying orders....

But my question was about programming :-) I'm doing my EA and I can open (Buy) position, but I cant close it. Only found to close by take profit. But I want to close ONLY when certain condition will happened.
