My longterm project is to configure MT4 for use on the Oanda API. Is anyone using this setup?

man i wish. i looked into doing this but dont know where to look.

i would think all it would take is converting oanda's datastream to metatrader's format.

however i emailed metatrader asking about their format and they said they dont give out that info....? i would think they do since people use their platform all the time.

i dunno. maybe they didnt understand me.

If you could figure that out you'd have traders all over the retail forex world wanting to know how you did it, since oanda is regarded as the best broker and metatrader as the best trading software. Personally I don't have the coding background to make to make it work, but if you do by all means go for it.

To have access to Onanda's API I believe it costs something like $600 a month depending on the # of lots traded a month.

You could create Metatrader offline charts using Oandas API feed. It would take some work, and I'm not sure it will get you what you want.

You'll be able to use Metatrader as a charting software for Oandas feed, but I don't think you can run EAs on offline charts, so you won't be able to use it fully as a trading platform.

LOL. Why would you need that if you don't really know what it is? Yes, you can create MT4 trades executing on Oanda but why? Oanda is crap at the moment. It was the best broker a year ago. No need to pay $$ for the programming there.

Better use an ECN FIX API with metatrader that some here already have up and running with 0-1 pip spread. All it takes is a $100k account, lol.

For those asking, you can find the details on the OandA API here

http://fxtrade.oanda.com/fxtrade/api/index.shtml

I did some work with it for a client not to long ago. You could build a DLL that can be called from MQL to do the trades and check the status.

Can you give a link to 'some here already'? I am interested and 100k is not an issue.

hm....3 letter UK broker, well...pretty much all brokers have a 3 letter name. Damn, I would write the name since I am permitted to but I can't think of a 3 letter broker advertising on FF.

EFX isn't a UK broker, doesn't have a red logo, and doesn't offer Metatrader

It's ok to mention who it is IF they're advertising on FF which you say they are.
Do not focus on making money; focus on protecting what you have.
