6 months ago I was on a mission to make my life trading fx fundamentals easier. Building and maintaining a foundation knowledge on central bank policy and the economy for the 8 economies I trade is time consuming. So my mission was to find services that I could use to consolidate and simplify. After spending weeks trawling through every search engine link, I realised it didn't exist. I would have to be the research analysts and a trader and this didn't really bother me much because I don't see this as work but more of a constant need to feed my inquisitive mind. It sure would be nice to have a service that offloaded some of the heavy lifting and consolidated the information I use to trade in one place.
This is when I realised I needed to build it. I knew it wouldn't be a time saver as I still have to do the same amount of research, but if I make the experience of using that information nicer it would still be beneficial for reference purposes. Up until recently I was using one note for journaling my research but now have my own platform. I figured there must be a lot of retail traders out there in the same boat so might as well offer it to them as well.
I have built the site as a centralised research platform. There are 2 sections to the site, the first is an information dump of how I trade fundamentals along with a blog that shows trade examples which will grow over time. I am not charging for this and if you want to see how you can apply fundamentals for short term gain then its all there for you to use. I have additionally added market overviews, news feeds with search capability, cot tool, and currently integrating bond yeilds. There is plenty of free stuff there and it will grow in content and functionality over time.
The second part of the site is subscription based. You can't expect me to spend a great deal of time researching and just give it away for free. It also costs me a lot every month on data feeds and tools. The good news is I am not charging an arm and a leg for it. There are 2 levels of subscriptions. Both give the user access to all the research but the second includes data flash which is a real-time economic release tool with squawk. I did it like this because some traders prefer to use their own release tool so don't have to pay for a service they don't need.
Some of the features I have built into the subscription section
1) central bank dashboard that shows the strength of central bank policy, analysis of the policy
2) important news that needs to be kept separate and fresh in your mind
3) statement differentials (quickly see the differences between statements) Also has links to actual statements and press conference videos.
4) central bank communication. All pertinent time series communication covering press conferences and any speeches or other central bank communication. You no longer need to search news feeds for this info.
5) news feeds and analysis feeds from a variety of sources. Both automatically update and have search capabilities.
6) economic data in chart form with navigation across main categories including employment, growth, inflation, business, consumer, property etc. Looking to add an economic overview section that briefly summarizes the state of the economy
7) rate forecasts
8) last major changes to policy. A timeline of the most recent major changes.
9} personal notes. You can add your own notes so as to treat this as a platform for research.
10) real-time economic releases with headline and countdown squawk.
I am currently taking it through its paces as a trader and adjusting layouts and content so that I can enjoy its benefits as a trader. If I can't make money off it then its no good to anyone else. I am looking to potentially release it this week or next so pop by and have a look when it's ready. You can also take it for a test run free of charge for a week.
Oh and one last thing, I have emailed Twee twice about this and have received no reply. Funny thing is I will hear from Twee the scond someone reports this which I am counting on as I do wish to operate by site rules.
So just to recap, this site isn't about selling signals or trading education. It's about a research hub that will undoubtedly make your life as a fundamental news trader a lot easier and more time efficient. I will never realize that benefit unless I hire someone to do the heavy lifting for me, which might just happen one day and I can just focus all my energy into trading and enjoying life.
So stay tuned for the details and I hope you find it useful whether you access the premium content of just make use of the freely available features like the searchable news feeds.
