Hi Thanks for your reply and welcome! I thought about that and that's why, in the indi, I turned the EMA line display on (Maroon on the chart) and that showed that the EMA was outside the CZ. You've taken the trouble to reply, so I tried the same setup (reduced the EMA line thickness to make it easier to see the arrows), but changed the EMA from 6 and tried 1, 2 and 3. Now the position of the CZ and entry arrows change, but you will see from the attachments that in all 3 cases the entry was a long way after I would expect. Cheers Paul {image} GU-M15-EMA1...

Batemap - a couple of pointers - and this has been covered in the thread in more detail than I will give you, first I would suggest not using the ema until you get comfortable with your expectations. Since you have basically just started, how do you know what to expect? There are a few basic assignments - find a few pairs you want to trade, find settings you like, and trade them on a live account for 3 months. My suggestion on pairs are EurJpy, AudUsd, AudJpy, and GbpNzd, as 4 pairs to focus on since you are trading the Asian Market. cheers

PS go find a FH chart on GU and duplicate it to see what a good cz looks like. Or mine a yesterday.

Hi Paul - can barely see the ema - could you switch it to yellow or red or something that will show up better here on FF. Pic quality is a little less than you screen. Cheers.

OK, will do, give me a few mins.

Hi Altos

Is the attached chart OK? If yes, I'll re-post the 3 charts in my original post.

Cheers

Paul

EDIT: I think the new colour is OK, so I've replaced the originals.

EDIT2: Thanks Altos I think our posts crossed. All 3 charts, with red EMA line, now uploaded into the original post.

Yes, much clearer, even my old eyes can see it. The Marone disapears on the black.

batemap, I'm not sure that this causes your problem but you have both EMA filter and min bar closed filter on, I would suggest to use only one of them at a time.

Hi SedonaPipper and profitpips

Thanks for your pointers and help.

SedonaPipper - I understand what you are saying and I have been experimenting with the pairs you've suggested and others. The problem is that without the EMA filter the price action seems to whipsaw around the CZ and cause numerous Entries and Stop outs, which then leads to too many levels of recovery for my taste.
profitpips - This is also why I have MinBars = 1.

My objectives are to find 2-3 pairs that give me: -

  1. High Breakout success
  2. 3-4 CZ per week
  3. Minimum number of recovery trades

Now these pairs don't need to be wholly Asian pairs, but these made sense when I started to look into this method some time ago, because that's when I get most of my screen time.
I've attached my EURJPY setting, which I've had on demo for about 3 weeks and this pair has been a consistent winner, whether that will change or not after the Yen settles a bit I don't know.

I'm grateful for the input and don't wish to upset any of the regular posters, who know the system much better than I, but I guess I'm just saying what I see and trying to follow the thread/method the best that I can. Am I trying to run before I can walk, maybe, but sometimes that's the best way, for me anyway.

Cheers

Paul

Hi all I can see that there is a huge demand for modified SSBO indi that would alert user when the new box is formed. I have asked XuX99 a while back for that and he modified it for me. So here it is. Just word of advise: dont set your days back for more than 20 because, it will try to send all the notifications for newly formed boxes, and you will get constant alert of new box formed for example 80 days ago. Anyway, good luck and I'm sure you will like it. {file}

I just want to first off thank everyone for all the hard work. I have read the entire post, practiced making my own CZ's without any indicators and am very proud of this system. I have been following this thread for quite some time. I was wondering is there a way someone can code the EA in post 4,955. The problem is if you go back 100 days it alerts you for all the past boxes. Can you just code it so it alerts you only on the most recent box and thats it. Alerts are sent when a new box is formed. The reason I want this EA is because than I can go and set the parameters to 30 range 30 high on a few pairs and save it. If I have different setting I can change the code and save it again. This way everytime I throw it on the chart I don't have to change it.

It would be nice if we could get the most current EA in mq4 format instead of ex4 format, but I totally understand if you don;t want to give it. I am extremely thankful for all the hard work everyone has put in esp FXH and all the wonderful coders. Please let me know if you need anything else or if I am not 100% clear. many thanks.

Your first post and you are asking for special treatment from the thread. Then you have the termitity to ask for the mq4 format so you can get the code, do you really think we are that stupid? move on.

Actually the problem is that you are trying to run instead of crawl. If you really understood SSBO you would not be afraid of numerous entries. From my experience, its was this fear of losing that was stopping me from moving forward with my learning. Since you are on a Demo, why not just play the signals as they show up and keep a journal to monitor your trades. Again all of this is covered in numerous places through out the thread.

I understand your frustration with this being my first post on here. I totally understand, I just thought I would ask either to help code or not. I don't know how else to address my situation unless I ask. Anyways I totally understand. I am not going anywhere weather I get someone to help me or not. I love this system and using it. As you can see everytime I change the Box Length and Range to find optimal settings I have to change everything again to my settings:

Box Buffer - 8
MinBarsClosedOutside – 3
QuickTakeProfit – 20
LotMultiplier - 1.5
ShadowGridColor - DeepPink
CZ Color – Lime
ExtCZColor – Black
CZBufferColor – Yellow
ExtCZBufferColor – Yellow
DisplayPanelFontSize – 12
StatsColor – White
StatsBGColor – Black
PipsProfitColor – Blue
PipsLossColor – Red
Stats Corner – 1
SendNotification – 01
Alerts - 01

It would be just easier if I can just change it myself and save it for each different pair. Hope you understand. i am sure there are other people that would like this as well. If not I understand, I am not trying to make anyone mad, just thought I ask. Otherwise the system is perfect.

Thanks and have a blessed day.

Hello forexvegan, pm me and I'll help you understand what you're doing. This thread is not a place for asking about how to use MT4 correctly.

Hi Again

Fear of loosing is indeed great and I have no doubt that the right CZ will play out to profit, but when the emotions get involved the trader stops the sequence and ends with a loss :-(

Taking your advice I jumped on a GBPJPY CZ box that was drawn this morning. The indi was showing it going up to Recovery Trade 4, but took the trade and achieved the 31 pip TP, although it did get close to the SL). Overall the price went up to gain just short of 100 pips, should have had a trailing stop, but on demo so no problem.

Anyway more soon, the Asian sessions this week seem a bit more volitile then normal, or is it just me?

Cheers

Paul

P.S. The indi entered where I'd expect in this instance.

but when the emotions get involved the trader stops the sequence and ends with a loss Who is the trader? take ownership - you are the trader not some part of your mind that separates you into some other person so as not to feel the pain of loss. And this is on a Demo account, how are you going to handle a live account?

The indi was showing it going up to Recovery Trade 4, but took the trade and achieved the 31 pip TP, Think about this for a second - your first trade was a recovery 4 trade and you were scared - also what is the average breakout short - 77 pips and you were only trying for 31 - hmmm something to think about.

should have had a trailing stop, but on demo so no problem , actually this is a problem - for a couple of reasons - first you are feeling regret which is going to impact your next trade because you are going to try to figure out a way not to feel this regret. Second, a demo teaches you a set of skills, a live account teaches you the skills necessary to make money. If you are in this to play and not make money then great let us know so we can make the choice to help you or not.

Hiho,

EURGBP is knocking on to breakout.

I like to take less SSBOs and using more bars to form a SSBO.

Ok I'll post this GBPUSD pic. It's still going down but I am out with my QTP hit. The point is the first two trades knocked me out. But my settings say this is the max occurred according to the parameters Ive set. So trade 1 - out. Trade 2 martingale - out. Trade 3 Martingale - winner.

So once you've decided upon your settings according to your risk tolerance etc, go with it.

EURGPB took the brakeout. Whish it would always work that perfekt :-)

Attachment 1175388

I wasn't at the front of my computer at that time so i hadn't taken that trade and my EA hasn't also. I think the spread widened at this time more than my 4 pips!?

But as i wrote this i recognized EURUSD did a breakout :-)
