Q. What symbol and timeframe do I attach your EA to?
A. Any symbol, any timeframe, just ONE chart. You may want to select a chart that represents a heavily traded symbol, such as EURUSD, so you get more ticks. Make sure no other EAs are running on the same account.
Q. Can you tell me how to run an EA?
A. There are other threads that answer such basic and general questions.
Q. Can I backtest your EAs?
A. No. Generally, you cannot backtest multi-symbol EAs such as mine in MetaTrader 4. There are ways to do it, but they require advanced programming or other technical knowledge. And backtest results are usually misleading.
Q. Can I run other EAs on the same account?
A. Please do not do that. You might see unexpected closures or other unpredictable trading actions.
Q. I restarted the EA, started trading a different EA, or I deposited/withdrew funds, and flat balance and flat equity were wrong or the EA closed all trades unexpectedly. How do I prevent this weirdness?
A. If you plan on restarting the EA, or starting a new EA, or depositing/withdrawing funds to/from your account, FIRST you should close all of the open trades (if any), and hit F3 and delete all of the global variables. In the case of deposit/withdrawal, restart the EA AFTER you have double-checked that the global variables are cleared and you see the account balance reflecting the deposit/withdrawal.
Q. I started your EA on a chart. Why has it not opened any trades?
A. You may need to go to the MetaTrader Market Watch pane and click Show All. If that's not it, then the entry criteria have not been met. These are the two most likely causes.
Q. Is there an additional setting besides ProfitPct to make the EA close the trades when profit target is hit?
A. You're probably expecting full closure while looking only at floating profit, not whether current equity is greater than last flat equity. For full closure, current equity must exceed last flat equity by the dollar profit amount.
Q. I started your EA and it opened some of the trades but not all. What is happening?
A. You may need to go to the MetaTrader Market Watch pane and click Show All. Or, your account ran out of available margin in the middle of the trades being opened. You might need an account with a larger balance if you want to trade with the same account type and the same MaxMarginToUse setting.
Q. Could you make losses smaller and winners bigger?
A. Could you move the world's biggest financial market at will? Could you make the earth flat?
Q. Could you implement a feature that closes the trades when a definable equity loss threshold is crossed?
A. Manual override by the account owner is always possible and my philosophy is to let the trader be the manager of such situations, whether this means taking actions manually or pursuing automated solutions of h(er/is) own or a third party's design. I have spent far more time thinking about how to win than how to lose, hence there are better people to turn to if you're keen on loss mitigation. Warren Buffett’s Rule #1: Don’t Lose Money
Q. Would you put a trailing stop on your EA?
A. If I had intended to, I would have. Watch for future versions.
Q. Could you implement tweak X, Y and Z in your EA?
A. You have my source code. If you're convinced it's a good idea, you should code it, or at least try very very hard. Why would you NOT try very very hard if you think your idea could make you independently wealthy?
Q. Would you code this EMA cross idea I have? I can see by looking at EMAs on a 5-minute chart that I can get rich with my idea!
A. No.
Q. Would you clean up this one EA I have?
A. No.
Q. Would you implement this indicator for me?
A. No.
