Markets in a period of calm ahead of key US payrolls data, oil remains volatile
A wild swinging session on Wall Street saw the S&P 500 closing +2.3% higher at 2526, but this gain is waning this morning with US futures -1.1%. In Asia a consolidation session with the Nikkei almost dead flat and the Shanghai Composite -0.5%. European markets are a shade lighter on futures, with FTSE futures -0.2% and DAX futures -0.4%. In forex, there is a shade of USD strength still poking through, with the underperformance of EUR still a factor, although markets are relatively settled ahead of payrolls.
