  • Jeremy Hunt claims Merkel is willing to renegotiate Brexit deal

His claim flies in the face of repeated assertions from Brussels that the withdrawal agreement cannot be reopened to change the Irish backstop, which Eurosceptics reject because ... (full story)

Maybe better listen to what Barnier or Merkel herself has to say.
This will be soon denied by Merkel's office. The gap, if any might dependent on that.
We will be hearing this type of fake news as long as the fight for the PM position is going on. Maybe another contender has already made a secret deal with Barnier or Macron...

"Hunt did not specify if he was referring to the legally-binding withdrawal agreement which the EU has repeatedly insisted cannot be re-opened, or to the accompanying political declaration on future relations.

Brussels has said the declaration could be revisited if Britain makes a substantive change in its positions, for example on a customs union or access to the single market."

Of course EU would renegotiate if UK wants to have customs union as backstop would not be needed anymore.

The market opened. EURGPB didn't move in either direction. Not that there would be any reason to gap for the Brexit media circus anyway.

Trump's Mexico drama seems to have stolen the show this weekend. The JPY pairs gapped nicely up (long GBPJPY here) on presumed risk-on, as expected. USD pairs gapped very little, CAD pairs gaps were actually larger.
