  • Ministers to publish full Brexit legal advice

    From bbc.com

The government will publish its full legal advice on Theresa May's Brexit deal after MPs found it in contempt of Parliament for not doing so. The Commons supported a motion, backed by six opposition parties, demanding full disclosure by 311 votes to 293. Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom indicated the attorney general's full and final advice would be released on Wednesday. An attempt by ministers to refer the whole issue to a committee of MPs was earlier defeated earlier by four votes.

It means that once the legal advice is fully published for the entire world to see, UK can kiss goodbye to its leverage in future negotiation with EU on trade. The legal advice probably contained many legal constraints on what the UK gov can do and cannot do and if these are made clear to EU and the rest of the world, any future trade negotiation will be crippled on the UK side because the entire world knew in full UK's card. In other words, UK loses its bargaining card.

understand resignations and government defeat in this case ,
and what that means for the vote on the withdrawal agreement
it cannot pass ,
the legal advice is already leaked as a possible trap situ

There's an awful lot riding on 'good will' on both sides (UK/EU). UK parliament is conflicted in equal measure at this stage. So 40 hours of debate until 'the deal' is put to the 'meaningful vote'. An amendment has already been voted into the debate - as to what happens after the vote. Such that there will not be a default 'no deal' - so expect PM May to be shuttling back to Brussels with a revised proposal on the document - basically a tweak in the wording to quash the naysayers.

or you can try do the math ,
after 3 defeats today in the house

"Of course, no-one has the arithmetic and so the market has been set up for a very surprising YES vote such as:

YES

Conservatives 225 (72%)
DUP 8 (80%)
Labour 64 (25%)
SNP 9 (26%)
LDP 8 (67%)
SF 0 (0%)
Plaid Cymru 1 (25%)
Green 0 (0%)
Independent 5 (63%)

Total 320

But the main point is the sway within factions within the groupings and their unpredictability. And many factions have a great deal to lose if a NO vote outcome occurs."
