Consumer sentiment in the U.S. was expected to slide in the final reading of August, further weakening from concerns raised by Americans last month. The University of Michigan's monthly survey of consumers was expected to drop to 95.5 in the final reading of August, according to economists polled by Reuters. Sentiment among consumers fell to 97.9 in July, from 98.2 in June, as a result of fears over the impact of tariffs on the domestic economy.
