  • Six major allies blast US over tariffs

    From money.cnn.com

The six finance ministers said in a joint statement after meetings Saturday in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada that "decisive action" is needed following the Trump administration's decision this week to impose steel and aluminum tariffs on its closest allies. Canada, the European Union and Mexico all announced plans to retaliate. They asked Mnuchin to express their "unanimous concern and disappointment" to President Donald Trump and said discussions should continue at a G7 leader's summit next weekend. The G7 is made up of seven of the world's largest economies: The United States, Canada, France, Germany, ... (full story)

Trump probably can't wait to have this meeting.
Armed and ready with tariff data.

What they are saying is tariffs are ok, just so long as you had the "initiative" to implement them first.

After that, they are "counter productive".

Erm... Reserve currency status ? , various derivative books, this ain't so simple as "I'm slapping a hike on foreign goods", US has way too much owing to play this card methinks (as UK, Spain, Holland et al found out being reserve cuts both ways when the parties done)

We are fast headed to a port where Gold, Silver & Bitcoin may be the only sanctuary currencies, there is no Fiat currency strong enough and backed by enough clout to replace the USD, only scarcity and math offer a viable alternative .... (10 years ago the IMF's SDR could have helped, now, being run from US with odd French heads - the last 2 did jail time , the current one is up on corruption charges.... not so much)

More complex than it looks, Huzzah for Gold, Huzzah for Silver, Huzzah for Bitcoin (no wonder Russia and China have been accumulating so much)

lower corporate taxes and tarrifs will create jobs for americans as international corporations find it better to build plants in the us and hire american workers vs elsewhere only to pay the same price when it gets to the border.

If these G6 countries don't like it then they should lower or eliminate their tarriff's that they impose on US imports. Why do we consider it "fair" that China has a 25% import tarriff on US built cars and the USA tarriff is only 10%?

It's time to level the playing field. Look at the OUTRAGEOUS taxes that the European countries impose on their airport "gates" Fees from NYC to London are only $200 but the UK government charges like $200 in fees or more!

If these countries don't like the new US tarriff's then eliminate their fees or get off their azz and renegotiate FAIR/EQUITABLE treaties with the US.

Personally the US is self-sufficient and doesn't need the rest of the world and if they want to be babies about it the USA will simply shut down and screw them. If you notice there and really only 2 economies growing right now - USA & China.
