Let break down the statement:

(1) Introducing "on average" in "Job gains have been strong, on average, in recent months" to reflect that recent number has moderated but still stay above recent months average. (Slight dovish)

(2) Introducing "while business fixed investment continued to grow strongly", in contrast to previous statement of "business fixed investment have moderated from their strong fourth-quarter readings" (Hawkish)

(3) Introducing "moved close" and remove "continued to run below" in "both overall inflation and inflation for items other than food and energy have moved close to 2 percent". (Slight hawkish)

(4) Removal of "have increased in recent months" from "Market-based measures of inflation compensation remain low" to reflect again moderation in market condition. (Slight dovish)

(5) Removal of entire statement "The economic outlook has strengthened in recent months." (Dovish)

(6) Introducing "run near" and removal of "move up in coming months" in "Inflation on a 12-month basis is expected to run near the Committee's symmetric 2 percent objective". (Hawkish)

(7) Introducing "Risks" and removal of "Near risks" and "but the Committee is monitoring inflation developments closely." (Very hawkish)

Overall, the dovish and hawkish elements are pretty balanced until point (7) which I thought is very hawkish. The reason is because now Fed is no longer "monitoring inflation developments closely." which signal that they are satisfied that the inflationary pressure has established itself on a sustainable basis and need no close monitoring. This is probably also to communicate that their inflation target of 2% has more or less been reached and required no more close monitoring. If you are no longer closely monitoring, it said that you are not so much worried anymore which mean the removal of "accommodative" from "The stance of monetary policy remains accommodative" to one that is "neutral" is probably something that is not very far off.

I know that I DON'T know what is going on, which is why I never trade based on fundamentals. Not smart/informed enough for that. For you guys who can, hurray for you. I envy your ability. As for me, I wait for all news to clear then ride the coat-tails of the big guys once my charts tell me they've made up their minds about what it all means. Got my more than my quota of pips for the day buying EURJPY when I got a signal after the news release, then called it a day.

Just my personal view only. For fundamental trading, if your stop loss is anything below 100 pips, it tends not be effective. For big boys, their stop loss is in terms of percentage of the currency move (they don't measure in terms of pips). Take for example, EURUSD trading now at $1.2000, 1% move is 120 pips distance. If the big boys is risking 5% on their trade, they are trading at a stop loss of 600 pips distance. Anything below 600 pips distance is volatility to them and is the ground for market maker's stop hunting.
