German consumer prices in January 2018: 1.6% rise on January 2017 expected
The inflation rate in Germany as measured by the consumer price index is expected to be 1.6% in January 2018. Based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that consumer prices are expected to decline by 0.7% compared with December 2017. In January 2018, the harmonised index of consumer prices for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 1.4% year on year and to decrease by 1.0% on December 2017. The final results for January 2018 will be released on 14 February 2018.
