"The dollar is going to get stronger and stronger and ultimately I want to see a strong dollar," Trump told CNBC in an exclusive interview from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. "Our country is becoming so economically strong again and strong in other ways, too." Trump's latest remarks about the U.S. currency diverge somewhat from past comments he has made. Don't be fooled, guys. The dollar rise is a head fake. It will continue its resumption to the downside. Looking at the overall picture in terms of fundamentals, investment migration to other economies besides USA is the least path of resistance from this point on.

Some of you guys need to quit marrying one sided trading. You fall in love with these currencies and stay so stubborn you blow your account. Just trade what you are seeing in these events and move on. This volatility is good to make money in if you know how to trade even half decent!

Problem is USD is being sold too fast (and EUR, GBP and JPY appreciated too fast). The problem is not so much in the extent but in how fast it appreciate/depreciate within a short time. Such a fast rate (huge volatility) is a threat to price stability which has repercussions on the financial system health (even within US) and business profits and will also derail many policy agenda set in place for a long time (like ECB monetary policy being threatened by such a fast rate of EUR appreciation). Maybe now Trump administration realized the foolishness of their unilateral verbal intervention and perhaps will appreciate the work of central bankers adopting a "gradual" approach guiding exchange rate movement.

It wasnt what he said that impacted the market and good technical analyst would know that the correction was coming.

Its important to understand that the market is largely technical not fundamental at all. Anyone observing how the candles are painted must realize that the price mechanism is just tied to whichever pair they want to tie it to and just keeps moving regardless of the news.

This is something aspiring pro trader must understand.

So in short its movement first then the justification after....Its humans after all. Meaning this is textbook human behaviour...act on emotions then use a justification to feel good

Anyone who sincerely believes Donald Trumps utterance in Davos caused the $ to rise should not be trading at all. It is sincerely pathetic to think that a non-policy comment by the head of a government reversed an earlier attribution to a subordinate an opposite move. This of course ignores the fact that the $ is in a downtrend having just reached a key low point and that the entire $ was therefore in consolidation or a range to keep it simple when these alleged causations occurred. Since in a range price is moving very fast in relative short cycles (compared to a trend) it is very easy to call any random event or news as explanation. it is easy to get away with it because (while not random) the market behaves as if it was random in a range. Very sad then that the people traders like trust are just as lost or confused.

Well am not smart enough to know alot nor is the future known by me, but had 3 positions on at around 1:30, long when it shot up had no idea why was not expecting that move. So just booked a nice profit once my chart level was hit. Whatever caused the sudden move is not that important. Who realy knows what goes on in higher places? Technicals just got enahanced by something, was it Trump Or did they bankers call him and say hey Don we need to move price a little so this after noon make a comment.

It's very obvious that the news caused the large spike. The question is will it all reverse when people realise the mistake. I'm betting it will and bought in at the peak, and am now hoping to ride the USD back down.

Market is as random as people wanting money is random.

Most of the more volatile pairs will move in atrocious ways and stop you out if your stop is less than 100pips and your timing is a little off which is invariable as the market start and end points are never fixed.....just a matter of where they have the opp to clear positions.

Its always a cash grab just have to trade within your limit so they dont grab yours

Its likely to close 107 before changing direction likely moving down in the channel since GU is also likely to move down back to 1.35/6 for the next month after easing up a bit for the Fed interest rate and NFP

Don't be fooled by fundamentals. It'll come soon. Tax bill, whatever.
That's a direct call for US Dollar strength.
Long term, months, I see the possibility of USDJPY going to around 118 zone.
Have a look at the weekly chart.
This would justify what Trump said.

Trump said that "ultimately I want to see a strong dollar" Ultimately is being interpreted as in the longer term by the major institutions"

Therefore the major institutions see that nothing has really changed in the medium term outlook since Draghi's speech yesterday in which he said "Incoming information confirms strengthening of economy that has been broadening" These major institutions still see the EU markets as a good place to invest in the medium to long term.

Trump's speech yesterday and the knee jerk reaction it caused just gave them a better price to buy the Euros they need to buy assets in Europe. Hence the rally in the Euro today. The same applies to the demand for other currencies too. A better price to buy them at.

Remember that to be successful, it is not about what we think that matters, it is what these major institutions think. The have a major impact on the FX market and so we need to understand what they think and then ride on their coat tails.

This is how the traders at the big boys trade. I know because that's where I got my training. If you want to see a really good daily free analysis follow Amplify Trading on Twitter. Their Analyst publishes some of the daily briefing he gives Amplify's professional traders on Twitter. You will also get an insight into how professional traders use a combination of fundamental and technical analysis. Amplify also train traders for quite a few of the the big boys.

his tax plan is 4 years plan anyway, and this is year 2. So, ultimately after 1-2 more years he want to see strong dollar, not now.

Right now UJ could either bounce up from the Wedge or go down

Market makers trade to target so its going down towards 107 target then 100

Basically it will remain in range until early march before move down

Your expectation is breaking basic trading rules.

After a trend there is consolidation or ranging which implies correction a part of that before moving up.

The trickiest part of trading is that most less experienced traders completely forget that this is not a toy but a valuation of the exchange rate used between 2 countries.

Meaning that the rate must be recalibrated by economic results after the move up. Another way of saying this is "how did the economy cope" with the rate in high 1.30's(1.31) compared to low 1.30s (1.39).

It must be accepted that the degree of correction is related to economic results obtained after trending to new price level.

By being informed of this a trader may get a better idea how to trade with the Trend cycle.

what will King Dollar do who knows. It was quiet today 88 25 shows on my weekly chart a possible spot for a bottom not to the tick ,maybe to 87.75 if that holds up it may go higher. Just another opinion.

You guys are funny...a retrace is normal after yesterday's late euro dump from 1.25+....doesn't change a thing. I will remind you, who are buying at 1.24, when we are around 1.17, I hope you are not over leveraged, so you can survive the dump coming.

A profitable trader knows where the low is and trade up from there.

Thats what I have been saying all of last year that the GU is a buy so one only need to buy from lowest point of the year even....which quite likely would have been hit already.

My biggest tip for the year so far....The next lowest is coming in Mar wait for it!
