Weidmann puts pressure on Draghi
Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann calls to end the trillion dollar ECB government bond buying program this year. "I think that would be appropriate from today's perspective," said Weidmann in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He affirmed his fundamental criticism of the purchase of government paper by the central banks of the monetary union. "The purchases have not negligible negative side effects. As a result, the central banks have become one of the largest creditors of the states. " In the meantime, papers have been bought for around 2.3 trillion euros.
