Do you know what you are talking about? This is direct signal for euro appreciation.
Cutting inflation target means they are expecting purchasing power will remain higher than expected. That means they are expecting euro will remain higher than anticipated.

Moreover raising GDP outlook is another plus point for euro

Cutting inflation means ECB will hold with QE taper. Market was expecting ECB to signal a QE taper on tomorrows meeting!!! That's why EUR/USD is correcting now.
No risk, No Glory.

Lower price of product, that's the increase of purchasing power. Not euro depreciation.
If eurozone can lower the inflation and increase production that's good for them but theoretically it's hard to believe.

Because it suggests in the future, the interest rates will bee lower. Raising interest rates has the effect of slowing the economy, which in turn slows inflation. Since they expect inflation will be slow, we as traders see this as a signal that in the future, interest rates will likely be lower.

Appreciation or Depreciation on a long term trend is mostly based off of interest rates right?? The market was going crazy up EUR futures because they thought the ECB was actually going to raise... and that the DEC rate increase that was "priced in" in the USA was not for sure/failing before because of "weak data" - it was in doubt.

But if they release about low/bad inflation, kiss the interest rate increase from ECB goodbye and that means that EUR futures are mispriced.

So then EUR numerator (and futures) in EURUSD falls... USD might get stronger also after the uncertainty from UK elections is removed for FRI. Right? Anyone with me?

Yeah, I agree. DX should resume and go up after Thurs events probably... and definitely agree is oversold (us bonds are overbought by all right now in 10y to 30y I think).

You said:
"Why euro going down?"

If /DX goes up and USD interest rates go up, that drives the EURUSD down because USD is in the denominator -dollar strength causes the EURUSD to fall. Haha, why are you asking why it is going down here?

My guess is that US bonds have been bought like CRAZY as a safe haven for this THURS and UK elections and that pushed yields down to the extreme and /DX down. I suspect that they will be sold after and bring rates up, /DX up, EURUSD down.

You want DX to resume? There is no mid term TL left to resume. That should be a new attempt.
When dollar index rises it reflects over the board. It will also pull down EURUSD. What on earth you are talking about? lol

Ah, my bad. I'm being dense. I think I misread "Why is euro going down?" by you to "Why is EURUSD going down?"

I agree that DX rise will pull down EURUSD - that is what I mentioned above. My bad, just wanted to check. Initially I was confused because of course EURUSD would be expected to go down.

Lets face facts here the ECB hasn't a clue .
First they wanted to raise rates then a week later they wanted to continue stimulation.
Then they said they wanted a higher euro.
Now its lower inflation and higher GDP.

Seriously
