  • EU 'not in hostile mood' as Brexit talks beckon, says Juncker

    From bbc.co.uk

"It's like musicians in their bow-ties playing on board the Titanic," remarked a friend of mine as I was talking to them about the EU's 60th anniversary celebrations in Rome. A mild exaggeration, shall we say - but the image sticks in my mind. Because as the leaders of the EU's 27 countries clink champagne glasses in plush, security-tight surroundings on Saturday - all is not well in the Europe outside their gates: youth unemployment persists (especially in the south), terror attacks, illegal migration, inequalities in the Eurozone, Brexit and a tide of anti-establishment populist nationalism across much of the bloc. ... The blizzard blew open the door with some force. I forced myself in pain out of the sleeping bag, crawled and secured the door again. The morning brought a still day and we were alive to move forward again. Let's strive to survive first then build on renewed commitments. There will be troubles. But let us be known and committed to each other so that we know who we are, and who they are.

EU is pretty much buggered without the UK in it... France is next to leave after Le Pen wins, and that will be the end of the EU, and good riddance to that commie parastatal monster, as neo-cons can never really hope to force people with such diverse centuries-old traditions, rich cultures, different languages, into one state, and then MAKE THEM GIVE UP ALL THEIR HERITAGE for the sake of a bunch of unelected bums running everything out of Brussels... And for what ?? So that we can avoid another war if we are all separate countries ?? Utter nonsense and a blunt insult to intelligence, in my humble opinion...

The purpose of the EU was famously to "keep the Russians out, the British in and the Germans down".

Well, you tell me how that worked out. Looking forward to our glorious Eurasian future, comrades

You have to be very careful when telling the truth in here about the EU. The thing you will find is that the EU apologists in here will not accept any criticism about their beloved EU, further, they won't be able to counter your truths about the EU with any real facts but believe if they shout you down or insult you, that this is a credible answer to a valid opinion. The EU is a cancerous growth on the arse of Europe and need to be exorcised. I thought La Pen point on Merkel and Hollande were so valid https://youtu.be/TEGUvhoQ2Fc

Very True. I won't mention names, but there are some here who will call any EU critic a "nazi" or "fascist". As if that is somehow even distantly related to a good counter-argument! They have no facts, no evidence, no data - just childish insults only worthy of a schoolyard bully. Their behavior speaks volumes about their mental capacities. Personally, I'm surprised they're even able to spell "forex, or, for that matter, type and breathe at the same time - that must surely put a strain on the few neurons they possess.

As usual your blind belief in EU propaganda will be your undoing. Whilst it is deeply disappointing that Wilders did not win outright, he did however make serious gains, which is going to prove to be a pain in the arse for both Rutte and the EU in equal measure. La Pen is making serious gains and whether she wins or not ( I hope she does) she is bring a major fight to the EU. The EU only has threats, blackmail and bribery to keep the EU together in its current format, but that won't last for long.

This is only the start of the backlash against the EU, not the end

I'm feeling in a vindictive mood, or at least I'm waiting with the only thing that can hurt the EU, and I'll give an example:

I am moving back to the UK this summer, and am looking to buy a new car. I had planned on buying a new Audi, but with what's going on, I'm either going to buy a car from a different country, or just hold off. So there is my little protest, with the only thing that will hurt the EU, and that is boycotting their products.

There are many like me also and bear in mind that the head of the CBI in Germany has called for a free trade agreement with the UK, as have many other German business leaders, and I think these negotiations will turn out a lot different from what these EU head cases think.

Germany controls the EU, and in Germany money talks.
Nobody can be told what The Matrix is. You'll have to see it yourself.

Behind the scenes?
It was only earlier this week that Junker showed just what a vindictive mood he was in with his stated position that after they have finished dealing with the UK in negotiations, no one else will want to leave.
And get this, he believes this fear of leaving will encourage the other member countries to fall in love with the EU all over again.

So if I beat my child for running away from home and make my other children witness the beating, the fear instilled in them will make them love me more lol...

This is the EU logic...
Come with me if you want to live....

{quote} Behind the scenes? It was only earlier this week that Junker showed just what a vindictive mood he was in with his stated position that after they have finished dealing with the UK in negotiations, no one else will want to leave. And get this, he believes this fear of leaving will encourage the other member countries to fall in love with the EU all over again. So if I beat my child for running away from home and make my other children witness the beating, the fear instilled in them will make them love me more lol... This is the EU logic...

Blackmail and threats is the EU Fascist way -

Poland will not be blackmailed by Western Europeans threatening to take away millions in European Union funds for standing up for its interests, Prime Minister Beata Szydlo

...Diplomats said French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel confronted Szydlo over Thursday dinner, with the French leader saying it was the wealthier Westerners who contribute funds for Poland's development.

Douglas Carswell is right though; UKIP has achieved what they set out to do. To continue, they will need to re-brand.

Laudable aspirations at its inception. NATO has ensured peace, not the EU. Without major surgery, it will will die. Economic powerhouse? Only Germany can claim that and not the EU. Freedom? of travel, yes, but without real democracy and real accountability in the EU the electorate is being denied real freedom

Yes. A tribute to the big thinking.. vision and maturity of our predecessors.
This world view from Olli Rehn .. will resonate for those with a 21st century global view.
"EU ... has served as an anchor of stability and democracy and as a driver of personal freedom and economic dynamism. It has advanced the rule of law and protection of human rights. It helped to bring about peaceful democratic change and extended the area of freedom and prosperity to almost 500 million people. For the citizens in this part of Europe, this marked a return to their historical European home.
Enlargement has also increased the EU's weight in the world be it in international trade negotiations or when addressing other issues of global nature, such as climate change or development. It has substantially increased our crisis management capacity, especially for peace-keeping missions. "

It is significant that the EU is now older than most national democracies.

Or a bottle of JD? HicupJunker makes out he can hold his booze. But we can all do that when you go to the bar and you have 27 drinks in already. When some of the 27 start peeling away, Ol Jack Jucnker will have to buy his own beers.

That's when he needs to talk to Frank!
Nobody can be told what The Matrix is. You'll have to see it yourself.

Here is the thing, I do not believe the EU leadership truly appreciates the historical and cultural differences that will inevitably lead to different outcomes. Some societies do not have the institutional guilt that blinds them and have an entirely different historical lens. Call it willful myopia or biased ignorance, really does not make much sense to me, but is intuitively obvious.

I find it ironic that so many are ready to ascribe peace and prosperity to the EU without considering the simple fact that it is due to the spread of duly elected democratic governments and that EU is not. Oh irony thy name is ff.
The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible..
