    Federal Reserve officials saw a strengthening case to raise interest rates as the labor market tightened, with some saying a hike should happen in December, according to minutes of their November gathering released Wednesday in Washington. “Some participants noted that recent committee communications were consistent with an increase in the target range for the federal funds rate in the near term or argued that to preserve credibility, such an increase should occur at the next meeting,” the record of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting showed. There is increase of some sort coming just a matter of how much .25 seem likely number.

No business can succeed for anytime without credibility.

Don, I think you misunderstood me, from the article it seems that the Fed have to raise rates come what may as the suggestions of a rate rise are coming on for some time now.

Ok I understand your view.

I also understand if the Fed says it expect to raise rates in 2016 if conditions are right then it should at the very least do a .10 adjustment. Most anyone looking at the USA's economic picture would agree the conditions are right.

So if having said that the Fed just keep backtracking then their power to say something and influence the market in the future is diminished. Bearing in mind its way easier to control the markets with words rather than pulling an actual policy to do this.
